I know, I love my Borla "Italian opera" but yes I do occasionally want to listen to the radio My 88 TR will only very, very faintly pick up local AM/FM stations that my other vehicles receive fine. The head unit is a Pioneer DEH-P2500 circa 2002, using the OEM windshield antenna, though I can see under the dash that someone has also installed an in-line Realistic FM signal booster. That alone makes me suspect the OEM windshield antenna may be bad and the booster was an attempt to improve reception. The antenna plug into the radio is sound (visually). I don't see any way I can get to the connection at the base of the windshield with the dash installed so can I do an ohms check on the antenna's radio connector end that would give me any meaningful indication of the continuity of the OEM antenna? If so any idea what the resistance should be? Failing that I may just go buy a cheap external antenna, plug it in and see what I can receive (to verify the tuner at least is good).
for the test all you need is a couple of feet of wire and you can strip back insulation and stick it into the pioneer's ant connection. I use a metra amplified small fiberglass antenna at the top of the windshield when the stock glass antenna is bad and it works pretty well. Scott la jolla audio
