My drivers window is rolling down a inch AFTER it is closed. It will not automatically roll back up immediately when closed. I know it rolls back up at a later time because when I come back (more than 10 minutes or so) it is in the proper position.

It rolls down just after closing the door. One other thing is the latch on the outside is now where I have to pull it all the way up then it will unlatch the door. This issue is new and I am sure related to the above.

I assume I will have to take the door apart to adjust something. Can anyone that has done this themselves describe what I have to adjust? Seems like a sensor of some kind has come out of adjustment or maybe where the outside latch has come out of adjustment from the main interior latch.

    thanks

this sounds like the same problem that i have had with my vanquish and sl55,what happens if the voltage drops as in low battery the window module looses its memory, try opening door starting vehicle fully opening window untill it reaches the bottom keep switch depressed all of the time and for 2/3 seconds when it reaches bottom, then press switch untill fully up again keeping switch down for 2/3 seconds after it has reached top,do this around 4/5 times and hopefully thats it the module relearns and problem should not reoccur untill battery drops voltage again, hope this helps.

    cheers simon uk

will give that a try. thanks

One more thing to add to my original post.

When I open the door then close it the window rolls all the way up (about a inch) then once the door is shut it lowers about 1/2 a inch. After the door is closed it will roll itself up automatically in 15-20 seconds.

I am trying to decipher this statement but it is a bit confusing to me.
    This is how I interpret:
    1. Open door.
    2. Close door.
    3. Window rolls up one inch.
    4. Window rolls down one half inch.
    5. Window rolls all the way up after 15-20 seconds.

I can walk you through door panel removal/reassembly, etc.
    :)

    drone.....

    1. open door
    2. close door
    3. window lowers 1 inch
    4. window immediately raises 1/2 inch
    5. 15-20 seconds later window closes 1/2 inch to be fully closed

talked to a guy that has repaired this door for other issues and he mentioned a window microswitch as possibly being faulty.

    whatcha think?

I think that the switch that connects to the door release mechanism is faulty or out of adjustment. The first thing I would do is to take the door panel off and adjust the play out of the cable going from the latch release to the exterior door handle. In fact, just replace that cable; they're really cheap and it's good preventative maintenance. If the problem doesn't go away, then adjust the switch.

I will give that a shot today.

pretty much what I figured I needed to do.

Was hoping it was the thing f430 suggested but wasn't.

Maybe just a sticky switch. Spray it with some contact cleaner first before taking everything apart.

If I remember right (my F430 isn't with me now to try it) the proper sequence should be as follows:
    1) Open door
    2) Window lowers 1 inch
    3) Close door
    4) Window rises 1 inch

Try cutting the power to the ECU for a few minutes. After you apply power again, close the door and put the window all the way up using the switch. Then open/close the door to see if it works. I had the same problem on my 360 and this cured it.

Use the cutoff switch in the trunk. I too would be very interested to know if this works - that would be a way cool factoid!
If this doesn't work, then try the following:
Open the door. Then, using a screwdriver, toothbrush or whatever, fool the car into thinking you are closing the door by manually pushing in the switch located in the door jam, and see what happens. Don't forget to "open" the door again by pulling on the exterior door handle to release that switch before you actually close the door again for real.

tried all these suggestions, no luck.

I am leaning towards the internal lock/switch as needing adjustment and or a microswitch.

I had this problem with my door and fixed it myself..

I believe there are 3 switched in the door.

    1-exterior door handle
    2-interior door handle
    3-1 inch gap _making switch

The switch that was bad in mine was the 1" gap switch which is located on the window regulator itself.

A arm built in to the regulator make this switch close when it is 1" down. If it comes out of adjustment or fails then the window will continue to roll all the way down.

I had to replace mine and then adjust it.

Yours could be the exterior switch due to the handle feeling different. Not sure. Its definately one of the switches but you gotta figure out which one. Maybe #3 is out of adjustment. Pull the door panel off and roll the window down and you will see how it works.

    Good luck,
    Scott

Pm if you need more help.

exactly, the vanquish that my dad had test drivin for a week (the dealer was so desprate to sell the car he lent it to us for a week) it kep on doing that to with the window but with the latch it is most likely the window cable its tugging on. it happened to my dad in our 2002 arnage and happens often to them.

    mine is doing this also..

    1. door open - window down one inch
    2. close door - window up completely (normal) then immediately (down 1/2 inch)
    3. stays like that.

    any idea?
does the window being open a smidgen have anything to do with sucking the battery power? I just recently bought a new battery 4 months ago and it's already dead after only 3-4 days of sitting!

    ideas?

The windows may need to be re-indexed. With other cars I've had (not the Ferrari), occasionally the window would not go back up when the door was closed.

IIRC, the procedure is to lower the window all the way down and continue to hold the button for a couple of seconds (after it's bottomed out). Then raise the window to the top and hold the button again. Repeat this two or three times.

    It's worth a try.

I had the same problem, Fernando at Competizione suggested adjusting the mechanism that looks like a scissor jack inside the door, that fixed my problem.

im pretty sure the windows don't drop on an 2002 arnage as they are framed windows vs frameless windows....

I have a window issue... but very different... it involves the remote operation...

    1. Open door - Window gets down automatically
    2. Close door - Window gets up automatically

To this stage, it is perfect..

    3. If I leave the driver's door close for like 10 minutes or so
    4. Lock the doors with the remote - Driver window gets down automatcially...

If I don't leave the car for long before locking the car, the driver window will not come down at all.

The window only gets up automatically after a couple of times of locking/unlocking with the remote...

Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanx!

    cheers,

    richie

Sorry guys.. have been lurking for a few months and had to chime in...
Had a similar issue with my Boxster.. only the window would rise back up as soon as I let go of the handle (outside handle) and the window got caught on the rubber weather stripping countless times.
It turned out to be the switch in the striker plate in the door that signals to the car that the door is closed.. the switch went bad and the car "thought" the door was always closed. Am stretching it here and am not a mechanic but perhaps striker door switch is sticking in the "door" open switch position...

    All the best,

    Curt
