    Contrarion POV...

The carcass of the Williams F1 Team is more valuable with a Mercedes engine deal than without. And if the team closes down... it's separate from the engineering company... so no risk.

Equally there may be a clause in the deal between MB and Williams that makes it obsolete in case of change of ownership ?

The art of writting contracts is to cover all possibilities.

If Latifi drops $50 mio in their account for their boy wonder ,should help out a bit.

Not impossible, but unlikely: Lafiti owns 10% of McLaren stock.

With Kubica officially out for 2020, will look forward to Russell completely dominating Latifi, AKA Stroll Mk2.

I think Latifi is a more experienced driver than Stroll who by-passed F2.

Stroll did 2 full race seasons worth of testing in a F1 car before he raced in F1. He is already a journeyman.

I know that, but plenty of testing on empty tracks on an obsolete F1 are no substitute for several seasons of racing in F2, IMO.
It's Stroll racecraft that is in question, more than his speed.

$5M from Orlen, a Polish sponsor apparently.

Is driving for Williams still driving in F1? It might be better to move on to another series rather than drive for Williams. They make the old Minardi team look good.

That's the same thoughts Hulk has. Williams is a no go.

Yet, Williams is the 3rd most successful team in the history of F1.
Sad to see it fallen on hard time now.

They are slowly closing the gap on the other teams; but you can tell there must be a lot of frustration there, even Russell sounds a bit short in his interviews.

I imagine working for Williams in any capacity is a lot like chewing on ball bearings.

    How so?
They still have 1 point combined (earned by fluke, no less), and Russell has 0. The next closest (less worst driver) has 4 himself. Kubica had nothing to lose this year, but if I was Russell I’d want to slit my throat.
You must be the eternal optimist.

    LOL

Couldn't happen to a better (more arrogant) bunch; even Ron D wasn't as bad. No F's given.

You have to feel for Russell, especially seeing how good Norris is doing.

I agree with that. I never like the way Frank Williams treated his drivers.

    That's correct.
So it's unlikely, in my view, that he would sponsor his son for a Williams seat.

Or, any seat that a team was willing to sell.
