Wife got caught speeding in Europe... :)

    So, we are speeding to the airport to get back here...

    One fully loaded minivan. Going 120km in a 60km, as was everyone else...

    We hit a radar trap, cop is pulling over pretty much anyone he thinks is a "foreigner" or driving an expensive car. Seems that only BMW/Mercedes/and rental cars are lined up and getting ticketed...

    Cop tells my wife she was speeding, and its a $150 fine, to be paid immediately. She states she doesn't have that much, will 50$ do?

    "Cash? Do you need a reciept?"

    Nope, its cash. You can do whatever you want with it, my wife replies.

    "Thank you mam... drive safely" :)

    It was a beautiful thing...

    I loved Europe :).

    So, if you have no cash or cards on you when you're caught speeding, then what? Impound you and your vehicle?

    This reminds me of old stories of border guards in eastern Europe "extorting" vast sums such as $2 and $4 from American tourists to allow entry . . . ;)

    If you have no money at all and no cards then indeed your car will be impounded. But how are you going to pay for petrol if you don't have cards/money;).

    If you only have cash 9/10 cops follow you to an ATM to get the cash out. I believe they have a card reader thingy now though so they can do it in the car without having to go anywhere.
