Why has this thread been closed please?

Like I have said before I have no axe to grind with anybody and certainly don't see myself as part of a witchhunt of anykind,but in recent days there seems to be 2 very important posts raising important points and questions that have been ignored.I think everyone needs to look at these

You know, I do agree that whoever changed the post (Steve, the hacker or the mod) maybe should have thought about the word they used and the consequences of doing so however some of you guys have acted like little kids and yes, played part in the stupidest witch-hunt I've ever came across. It seems to be part of the British up-bringing to try and behead folk and slate them for reasons unproved.

I for one wish Andy all the best and am in full agreement of him staying on as moderator and I'm absolutely sure that this will apply to most F-Chat users. Do remember that there are many users of this forum that need not necessarily post and just wander. I believe the select few that have been dragging this on unneccessarily have done for a reason and that reason is not for the good of the forum, in fact the complete opposite. I also believe that this forum is the best Ferrari-related forum around and always will be, regardless of the the ups and downs experienced.

I wish you luck should you be frantically trying to put words into everybodys mouths until the thread is shut tomorrow.

i have met many people and made many friends through this site the best being the european rally six days in scotland loads of pub meets hotel evenings and track days also see of red auto-italia christ we even made a calander best 3 years of ferrari ownership if you want my opinion

 

For once we agree. I am also in full agreement with Andy 308GTB being the mod on here, and hope he stays on for a long time to come.

the reason they didnt come back was the treatment by a certain moderator on here changing fcars to baby nappy sites ect and the constant blocking out of the word fcars i only posted that we had a meet at the cornmill it gets changed to retards not a good example to a new poster then all this crap sorry but andrewg has a chip on his shoulder about fcars and is keeping a lot of people from visiting this site with his attitude which i find amazing that he has a ferrari/maseratti service centre/garage and he falls out with all these potental customers not good for this site or his own buisness [but thats his choice]

 

In order to forgive someone there needs to be amittance by the perpetrator in the first place.

If that had hapenned perhaps all would have been forgiven and forgotten by now.

Just reading the fcars/retard/deleted thread business for the last few days, as have many others I'm sure.

Like others, I would support your argument, but I refuse to post in the UK section. So if you ever restart such a thread, consider putting it elsewhere and you'll get more support.

I don't know AndrewG (or you) so nothing personal, but feel a guilty verdict is due based on the facts and evidence presented. Yes some of it is circumstantial, but the logs are not. You may wish to post a summary of facts including circumstantial evidence etc.

Did AndrewG ever admit to being the one who edited the post with fcars to the baby site? If not, a log of that edit may prove enlightening. It will prove he has done it before to the word fcars, without confessing.

His antagonism to fcars is well documented. Hence motive.

He originally denied editing your post. Later the logs proved he was the only one to edit it, and he suddenly recalled editing it and back again. If someone else made up that story they would be laughed at, yet as a mod he is protected.

Guilty I'd say, and dishonest to boot. And he is moderator, so that's much worse!

Kirk Verdi was hounded MUCH worse, and more personally, and by more people, for something less serious - as he did not do anything to hurt another user. So why is a moderator immune? With Kirk the complaint from members was that he failed to confess and come clean. Well, the same is true of our moderator, but he additionally is in a position of power.

Although i have no allegiances to any particular party the issue/question now is (as everyone knows) not WHO edited the post but the fact that, that party is not owning up and is clearly being dishonest!!

 

Rob has made his views fairly clear on this precise matter I think - but also that he is not intending to take any further action because he judges that he can't do so without 100% concrete & direct proof (and what there is is proof by elimination/deduction). Given that this place belongs to Rob, his call on that is the final one.

So as far as I can see that's therefore the end of the matter - nothing new is going to be said & so everything being said today is just a rehash of what's already known - which is probably not that helpful.

Those that remain indignant/disgusted/disappointed/insulted & just plain think the whole thing is wrong etc. etc. just won't post in this forum again until things change I suppose.

Still, if they want somewhere to go they can always hop over to CS - there's a fairly busy UK forum running over there I hear!

Just my .02
When I was living in the UK I regularly contributed (well, not too many posts...) on this section. After I moved back to Italy I kept coming in here, it was a great place. One year ago things went badly wrong, since then it has been down hill. It is really sad to see how things are now.
It is only my personal point of view, but please can we stop all this non sense and try to have the old spirit back? Just try, it should not be too much of an effort .

What we have here is a refusal to look facts in the face despite overwhelming evidence.

So what do we know...
1- SteveF posted "FCars" originally on 1st June. This wording remained intact until at least 4th June. This has been verified by "Bobda" and "chrisX666". So Steve F couldn't have changed it.
2- AndrewG originally denied having edited the thread at all
3- The logs confirm that only ONE edit to the thread was made, on the 4th of June, and by AndrewG. Due to the time constraints this could only have been by a moderator or the site administrator

4- When faced with this evidence Andrew changed his story and now stated that he had indeed altered the thread on 4th June, but only because he noticed that SOMEBODY ELSE had changed the wording from FCars to the now famous "re***d" phrase. Yet this could not have been the case, otherwise there would be an additional entry in the thread log, confirming who had changed it originally. And as we know, there was only ever one edit, the logs confirm that.

5- So then we have the hacker theory(Big sigh). A hacker would have to hack directly into the database as any changes via the website would of course leave an entry in the thread log....
So we are to believe that somebody managed to figure out the IP address of the database server, the server name and passwords etc then set about changing the data in just the one post???? So it would have to be a hacker who didn't like Steve F and had a grudge against FCars, yet was diligent enough to close the door quietly and leave without touching anything else on the database???? Where can I find this Robin Hood of hackers!!!!

6- AndrewG has a history of amending the word FCars to read something else

Now let's look at the history of AndrewG
1- He has previously told a prospective buyer of SteveF's car that it had been involved in a serious accident, causing the buyer to lose interest. SteveF's car has never been involved in an accident

2-AndrewG claimed that a denial of service attack had been launched against him via the FCars servers. Yet when pressed to provide evidence and substantiate his claims he has gone surprisingly quiet and never mentioned it again.
3- AndrewG's Ferrari company website page www.csoffroad.co.uk says that his company is called "Cheshire Sport and Offroad Ltd". Yet if you go to http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/WebCHeck/fastrack/ to check for all registered UK Ltd companies there's nothing listed by that name....

Having posted my version of the events at the start of this thread I’ve kept out of this thread for a number of reasons, I think the time has come for me to post a few rebuttals to some of the allegations made against me and the organisation’s I represent

1. The log files show I made a change to Steve’s post, that’s never been contested, I have always maintained that I “asterixed” out the word retard followed by reversing the change & removing it in its entirety when asked to do so. Previous examples of my frustration at some of Steve’s posts can be seen littered through the Fchat archives.
2. Rob Lay and Andy 308 have both been e-mailed adequate proof that in the eyes of both the UK government and major suppliers to the UK Ferrari scene Cheshire Sport and Offroad has been trading for almost three years in spite of Steve’s claims, Our website is currently in its beta phase & will be finished and launched shortly, at which time any short comings should have been addressed, any further anonymous unsubstantiated claims and accusations against CSO will be dealt with offline by our legal representative’s (who will pursue the poster rather than the anonymous person being quoted)
3. At no stage have either myself or any employee stated that we have serviced or owned SteveF’s f512m, or that we have had any knowledge that the car was a “damage repaired” vehicle, anybody who cares to look up the post will see that I clearly asked Steve if his car was the “damage repaired” F512m in RC with carbon seats and 512tr wheels that Specialist Vehicle Services were advertising at approximately the same time as Steve purchased his car, Steve responded in the negative and I moved on, Steve was later contacted by Alex Entwistle (alexr on fchat) pretending to be interested in Steve’s car, which is where Steve’s anger towards me initiated……Several of the unsubstantiated stories Steve was told during this phone call are identical to stories alexr mailed TonyH…..for further details on alexr www.muliner.co.uk

This thread has included a litany of claims without any factual basis and in the most part lacking any accusations traceable to any individual. With most of the aggrieved parties having a limited amount of posts and involvement with Fchat UK section since November I believe it would be fair to surmise that their posts are irrelevant to the current users of the UK section, and detrimental to any attempts made to bridge any divides between this site and its competitors for the common good

I’ve contacted most of the major protagonists in this thread offering to include them in the steering group being setup by Andy and myself to decide Ferrarichat.com’s UK section’s direction,if anybody else who wants to see this section continue rather than become a sock puppet of a competing site wants to be included in this process please contact Rob Lay, Andy 308GTB or myself for details
