My comment was not "disrespectful at all...if it wasn't true then why did the original poster ask the question in the first place ? I've owned a few Ferraris that get little respect as well, including a 400 GT and a 348 Spider. And, the fact is my current Boxer really gets little respect other than from entry level Ferraris owners. The 250, 275, Lusso and even Daytona crowd often times frown on the Boxer...and so does the market...that's why the Boxer is the cheapest 2 seat 12 cylinder Ferrari you can buy...
Where you been Peter? I used to see you at Road Atlanta every now and then but have not seen you in years...Frank
A friend of mine went to that one and apparently he was over taken by Gt4's in his 355, also he gate crashed as well I think his quote afterwards was it was full of chip shop owners and their mondials!
"I think his quote afterwards was it was full of chip shop owners and their mondials!" Hah! He needs to come over here and play! <grin> Frank, those were the good old days, when the SE Region could pay the bills on twenty F-cars showing up at Road Atlanta and we drove until we dropped! Of course it helped that the SE Region Director (and his lovely 400i-driving lady) owned the track! <very big grin> Just dropped out of sight for awhile, but I'm baaack! With the resurgence in driving the older (pre-355) cars, my business is getting back to it's late '80's level of Ferrari service and maintenance business. I can now jump back in and drive an F-car every day. Hope to see you soon. -Peter (I'm in for the t-shirts)
Yea, what happened to the SE Region? I remember those great events when we would have track days, rallies, nice dinners and more where FCA memembers and their wives/girlfriends would come drive on the track, partcipate in the rallies, and dress up for dinner, ect...Now, it seems like every event is a just few guys that hang around and BS about Ferraris...while that is fun, we could have a lot better events...We need a good person with a wife that likes Ferraris and likes to entertain to be in charge of setting up events...like Jim and Kathy Kanely and John and Carol Apen used to do...
I may be mistaken, I thought I saw her and Jim in a dark 400i before they got that charcoal/red 412, but she may have been driving something out of FAF's stock. We're all getting older, for sure! <grin> -Peter
reading this thread has made me appreciate Modials even more than I did before and actually makes me want to go buy one. While they may not be the "ferrari look" that you expect from Ferrari. I remember when I was 16 or 17 and hadn't seen a Ferrari in a few weeks and was kinda bummed, I saw a red Mondial and was behind it for a few miles, made me smile. What a great car. I need one now
I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. I did a run recently with 5 other pals in various modern exotic machinery. After pulling up at a swanky hotel, the valet/concierge came over to my T. HIM: "I must say sir, this is the best looking here" ME: "Well, it's certainly the oldest here" HIM: "In that case it's both the oldest and the nicest" I assume this concierge sees flash motors all day long, and the T was a breath of fresh air for him. That said, I really don't give a monkeys what others think, but if others admire its timeless understated shape, they have a good eye and that's fine. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Erm it was carpet store owners from Cheshire..........Odly I've Just sold a Mondial to the chap who owns the carpet wharehouse next door
Having owned 4 308s (carb and QV models) and currently have 3 308s and a Mondial I will say that the Mondial drives great. Upgrading to 348 wheels and tires make the car handle wonderful. It honestly doesn't seem slow to me even compared to the 308 QVs. The handling is just as good IMO. The times are very close I may actually turn quicker times in the Mondial. Until you drive one you really can't comment. Plus the seating position allows for much great visibilty. It is truly the best bang for your buck out there. I have seen 8s sell for under $15K. What other 80s Fcar can you get for that?
I have found myself the last few days searching for and reading through all my Ferrari books for Mondial info. I need an F-car, im going nuts w/o one
