For the same price as an F430 Spider, you could have this Saab!

"what do you think that baby costs to run per hour"

With any Fighter aircraft, a bottomless bank account.

You could probably spend 350k on that in 6 months for parts and labor.

Isn't that about what a major on an F430 runs? :)

Unlike a Ferrari, the Saab comes with "50 Additional Tools Used For Servicing" so DIY and save some dough. It's out-of-warranty anyway.

Enough to make your head spin. Your better off looking at L38's, im pretty sure they do better with fuel.

I know it is a jet, and a fighter at that, but I thought they were cheaper to run than piston engined aircraft. How would this compare to a ww2 piston engined fighter in running costs?

Love my 9-5 aero and its been reliable(fingers crossed)... Saab gives you a lot for your money.... plus the fact that its seats 5 well and can go from 40-70 in less then a 2003 911 turbo(stock)... Thats a fact too!

As for the jet I would think that it would be better if it had a turbo
But I'm sure it has plenty of boost to get you going!

Hey FerrariF50lover, I think you mean L39. I doubt you could even get that plane licensed for anything other than exhibition under the experimental catagory in the US.

If it's not at least the ejection seat is still armed :)

Mach 1.1 at 300 feet...sounds like a good time to me, but I would imagine that the folks whose windows are shattered would me mighty pissed.

Ive seen this plane and it looks pretty cool. Although some of the east block jets are a bit cheaper, and perhaps cheaper to fly with spares more plentiful. Spares for this might be a bit pricey..I like the L-39's better, and they do race them, although one did crash at the Reno air races this year...

Turbine engines are efficient, but they are costly to maintain. It doesn't take much to damage them, and then it's time for a new motor. Foreign object damage is a big problem for turbine engines especially the ones used in fighters because they ingest everything.
