Some owners just want A warranty book to show at concours and they will have more points at the end of the show. And some will have few money !

I already saw warranty book without the first page because people snatch it and don't want the S/N to be seen because it's not the same of the car. Take a look on EBay, you will see some of them time to time ( especially in US )

Simple, it has value. Who knows what he had to do to get it. I know I don't, I doubt you do either. I fix peoples cars, that has value too. Should I do it for free? Great big group hug maybe? After all it is your hobby and no one deserves a dollar from it.

I guess you are a socialist. No other explanation.

I'd pay $10. I wouldn't pay $100. So without knowing the price, it's hard to say why a particular owner didn't care about a particular warranty card.

On a side note, it is frustrating as hell that all the books/tools get separated from so many cars. I can understand if you've no wish to keep them in the car, but when selling it's just poor form to not include them. Come to think of it, I've never sold any car without the jack/tools/manual in the car.

Do you have any idea how many GTO's F40's and F50's got separated from their original exhaust systems? It was really alarming and they are all really expensive. That is the level of care many very expensive cars are treated. I and many others have scoured the world coming up with the parts, all the little bits and pieces to put them back now that most want them stock again. I spent a pile of someones money to for all I know buy the original parts back for an F50 a few years ago. I had to get everything from the cylinder heads to the tail pipe tips.

I try hard to collect all those items for every car I have, I think it adds to the mystique and overall value of the car. I like to have every document that came with the car when it was new. I'd gladly pay for a warranty card, original sticker, etc for my cars

If I would have a Ferrari without the original warranty book and suddenly I was contacted that someone had the original warranty booklet for my car, I would be interested to obtain it. But then again I would not buy a Ferrari without it in the first place. Ok I did once. But I believe that might explain in this particular case why the owner is not interested.

And why not give it to the owner? Well first of all I bought it at action, together with the original and rare leather pouch. Secondly, it was offered just for the price of a new decent tire, or the fee of a few Ferrari workshop hours or an oil change. Never heard these are for free :).

There‘s no separate ‚warranty card‘ for 328 other than 246 for example.
If it’s meant the warranty and service book which is mentioned before, I would pay a lot of bucks to have it with me and my car...

If you don't have the original booklet for your car, the first thing to do is to disclose its VIN or Chassis number, for instance on this site: there is a dedicated thread for the "missing car documents". There is not much hope, but from time to time, who knows?
But if you don't disclose the VIN/Chassis number, the possibilities of finding it again are even smaller...

That's quite a few reshod jobs there!!!

Or, if..like me you "hang" horseshoes in your home and shop "for luck" it will only take two per shoe!!!

I am just going to comment that a "filled out and executed" Warranty Booklet, even if not further used, is hugely valuable to the cars "Put In Service" history.
One that was fully stamped would impress me as noting the expense was made to properly care for the car!!

Mine for 22127 is damned interesting.......has a List of Complaints at 500 miles, "Slow wipers, engine lid rattles"..... he skips the 1000K miles oil change, and the motor explodes not long after!!

He should have been watching the Tach, not the wipers!!

Paperwork having "value" to a buyer is clearly a personal issue. If I liked a car I was interested in buying, the lack of any paperwork, would have no impact at all. Obviously, others feel the opposite way. ;) It turned out that the 328 I bought had its paperwork and maintenance history but it would not have mattered at all - it looked/ran like a new car and was obviously cared for. THAT is what was important.

My driver has 50K miles. Very original, but not an investment car in my opinion. I don't have the original owner's manual.
I have the original tool kit. What if I sell it?

I have puzzled over this. If I sold the car that tool kit would mean a lot to the new owner. On the hand, baby needs a new pair of shoes. :):) Or, steering rack, or interior work... etc

Bought my 79 BB and it was missing everything, I slowly found what I needed (like the minispare) but the original owners pouch and books was going to be impossible. Then I received a message from someone in Florida that had two pouches in his injected boxer, that car and mine were previously owned by the same guy. He googled the chassis number which lead him here and to me. I now have that complete pouch with all books including the radio manual for the blaupunkt berlin 9000 goose neck I had in the car! I can't thank the guy enough.

The difference is for me (and many others) its about the car and preserving it while Im the custodian. When I pass it on Ive done my job reuniting the missing parts at great expense, its not about me selling it off in bits to maximize my return to buy a new tv or fridge.

Well, there is no difference yet. I have had the car 13 years. I have poured my heart into it and separated nothing.

Then I must've completely misunderstood your post about selling the jack kit to spend that money on something else and you dont see your car isn't an investment.

I always find it sad when things like the books get separated from the car. These cars aren’t just cars, they are pieces or rolling history. Sure we get to drive and enjoy them but we are just custodians of history. I know whenever I sell one of my cars I make the utmost effort that the next person gets everything, including any awards and trophies the car has won, as I feel those belong to the car and not me. But hey maybe I’m weird, or my mind would change if I won at Pebble someday lol.
