Maybe I'm naive, but why are 400's so cheap ? e.g. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330230738598&_trksid=p2759.l1259 is it because people think they're ugly ? too expensive to run, to expensive/scary to bend/service or all of these things ? Lee '77 GT4
Well not in general, but as far as the car you've linked to........it is rusting terribly (look at the trunk bits), the interior is no longer factory correct it has been redone (badly), and a host of other things. This car isn't a good example of the value of the marque. There are a few threads on these cars I would suggest you read a bit in this forum.
As Dave says (or might have said), there's good cars and there's some real 'Ripley's Believe It Or Not' type cars. Here's a link to a better one currently on offer in your own back yard; http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C40085 You'll find others on the same site, just search under '400', there are even a couple of rare (ish) manual versions. If you want my 2-cents-worth: watch the market, the current malaise in the property market might force a few unfortunate owners of exceptional cars into a premature sale but bottom line is: buy while you can, when you can because these cars ultimately will only go one way in value....and that's up. Also remember this: Most of us that have them will never sell them....that should tell you what will happen, in a limited commodity market, to the value of these exceptional vehicles.
