I am in the hunt for a new CS. Before I bring it home I need to install a car lift in my garage so I can stack my cars. The CS will be on the top ramp. I wanted to see what brand you guys are using and whether you have any issues with clearance on the ramp or width approaching the ramp due to the low clearance of the car and wide set mirrors?

Have you considered a 2 post lift?

I haven't seen a 2 post lift that would work?? I think a four post lift seems to be the best conf for my garage. I just need to find the right one. I would prefer to go with a brand that others are using for the same car to make sure no clearance issues.

Thanks, this thread was helpful but I am looking for recommedations from other Challenge Stradale owners because I want to make sure whatever lift I get that there are no clearence or width issues specific to the CS. I want to make sure before I buy anything that another CS owner has put their car on it with no problems.

I have a Revolution/Rotary 4-post lift and did not have any problems driving my 430 up the ramps.

Not sure how much lower a CS is versus a stock height 430.

I ordered my lift with their extended ramps. Not sure how much longer the extended ramps are compared to the normal length ramps but the salesman said it would work better with sports cars that have a lower ground clearance than normal cars.

The bigger issue for most people is total vertical clearance height in most garages. Even if your ceiling is tall, make sure the garage door tracks are mounted high enough to clear the car's roof that is going to be parked on top.

    Good luck.

Based on your recommendation, I had the guys from GES (they represent Bendpak in our area) come to my house and we determined that a single post will not fit in my space. I have to go with a four post. I might want to take a look at George's set up again though to see how he made it work?

I have the Bendpak single post parking lift, but the 360 is at the bottom - didn't try put it on top. I also have a Bendpak 2-post I use for working on my race car, but on a daily basis I park a daily driver under the race car - works fine.

How do you get the drivers door open on your F-Car? Any reason you wouldn't put it on top?

There is plenty of space. I just park it a bit to the right. Ideally you want the post at the passenger side (they can put it on either side), but my wife parks to the right (coming in) and we wanted the garage visually open, and hence the post along the wall. I drive the 360 more frequently than the Alfa - I think it would fit, but the 360 is wide and it would be close with the door (since you cannot just park further to the right). Of course, I could just back it up.

BendPak is the perfect solution. Do not get the narrow one.

I have a 360 spider lowered.. I use a Bendpak 4 post 9000# rated lift... What I did for mods was had a welder come out & weld the on/off ramps permantly in place.. They are not just tacked so they dont flip... I had the same taper welded to the end of the ramp.. one weld bead straight across so its a smooth transition from deck to ramp.. If you do not do that you may rub middle sides under car on exit...(If your lowered).

Ramp flipping down upon lifting (if you do not weld) is a pain in the @ss... You either have to remove them so you can park under or they are in the way.. With clearance issues as well as potential rubbing - welding for me was the answer.. My 360 is 4" from front to ground. see pics-

Chris, thanks for the photos and recommendations. Looks nice. Can you or anyone else tell me it the CS has a wider track than your spider? It looks like you are at the edge of the rails? Someone above recommended getting the wider version of Bendpack. Is that necessary?

Thanks Robert for helping me out tonight. George's setup is incredible. Doesn't get any better. I just hope I can make it fit. Bendpak is coming on Friday. Thanks for taking a quick photo.

My lift is the wider one, I have more width if I wanted to slide them over more.. No need as I use the edge as my guide when I back up... works perfect for me. CS & the 360 are same widths as far as platform goes..

Chris, do you know the Bendpak model # to yours? I'm not sure which one is the wider one? If I can't go with a single post I want to make sure I get the correct 4 post.

Picture above shows data plate .. Bendpak HD-9
You will need a compressor for the air safety locks release & mine was spec'd 240v on electrical.

Any specific reason you went with 220v vs. 110v? I know they have options for both.

220V is about 2x as fast going up, but you need an electrician to wire it to your box directly vs. a regular 110V that can plug into the wall. For me my electrical box is on the other side of the house and since I don't use the lift daily it wasn't worth the cost to me (plus I think the electrician would have had to break through the ceiling in my basement to run the line which really wasn't worth it!)

I have a 4-post lift, but haven't attempted to put the 360 on it because the car seems so much wider than the cars I typically used it for in the past (911 or vw beetle). One of these days I'll get the courage to try- no need now as it's driving season and I usually only use the lift for winter storage... (or some car work during the driving season)
