He got ****ed by McLaren who hedged their bets and had three drivers signed for the year after Senna stalled them. Mika got all the testing, Whinedretti race only. Lots more to the story than that as well, but I don't feel like typing.
Andreas, actually it was Imola 1982, and Pironi had the major accident at Hockenheim in the same year. He had horrible leg injuries, and actually survived that wreck from what Ferrari learned through Gilles death. Pironi did not die until 1987 in the Racing Boat when he didn't lift for the wake.
Schumacher Alonso Hamilton On a lesser level: Senna (arrogant) Mansell piquet (both) And mine: Damon Hill. Boring and clouded views from non Schumacher fans. but he was pretty funny. I don't think he was hated that much?
Yes of course: 82 I was referring to the Hockenheim accident. Did not know that tidbit about the improved C2, interesting. Personally I always respected Pironi a great deal.
Since I started it I'll give you my reasoning. I've only been following F1 for a few years but my perception so far is that the fan's passion for this sport exceeds most others. Additionally the drama throughout the league is quite high. Due to this there is tons of banter around "my guy is great and your guy sucks".... very little consensus of who are the best ambassadors of the sport. So, I was curious to gauge the level of agreement by the peanut gallery... frankly on ANY topic. Not sure why it saddens you though. This is just another soapbox thread for those who don't mind sharing their opinions. I wouldn't take it personally. Besides, it's educational for me since I like hearing about the drivers of the past.
I agree with this. Personally I hate Alonso the most, but I wasn't watching during the senna, mansell, piquet senior era
I have no clue who is the most hated F1 driver, but I think that Piquet isn't too fond of Salazar; [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JogHiSR5P4[/ame]
As much as I love Michael Schumacher I hate his brother Ralph Schumacher! He always seemed to me like: "I wanna be like my big brother, I wanna be like my big brother, I wanna be like my big brother, . . . " Sorry Pal, there is only ONE Schumacher Greetz, Joseph
I'd heard negative things about Michael A but just kinda wrote it off as talk until i saw him once signing autographs at a car show. I've never seen a guy who had so much disdain for those waiting in line to see him. Had a cell phone on his ear the whole time and never looked up at the people he gave his John Hancock to. Maybe just a bad day or an important deal on the line but the guy came off as a jerk for the five minutes or so i sat there watching him.
Same here about Pironi, as I think he truly felt bad about what happened, and when he had twins he named them Gilles and Didier. He was a very good driver in his own right, and he just made a bad call that day. But Karma was a ***** at Hockenheim.
It showed a massive lack of character although he was quite a racer and showed what he was made of during the Paletti incident when the stewards' torpor was heinous.
