I used to think Corvette's taillights were an echo or copy of those in a Ferrari
but now I just realized the first Ferrari to feature that trademark rear view was the 1968 Daytona whereas Corvettes had those round button much earlier...

...So who copied who? and why?

I don't know about the first car, but the first Ferrari was the 250 GT/L introduced in 1962. Also used on the 275 GTB of 1964.

As far as I know, though, the Corvette has used twin sets of round tail lights since the 1961 model year. Still, these have always been recessed down into the body work and don't really have a "button" appearance if you ask me.

Are you asking which car was the first to use horizontally-arranged twin sets of round tail lights? If so, that might just take us back to way before Ferrari existed.

...Sorry I meant TWIN round rear lights

interesting to see besides Corvette & Ferrari... also Diablo,Lotus Elise & Bugatti Veyron and a lot others use this simple design which I consider is a Corvette feature. (correct me If I'm wrong)

Which may explain why 50+ year old guys ask me if my car is a Corvette.

mine is a 1972 Dino, but they were on the 1st ones in '69, too..

There are only 3 makes/models of car that have had 50 years of round tail lights...

    Ferraris

    Corvettes

    Skylines

    That's it.
