Is this documented somewhere? I’d love to know. (this would be the car he got the DUI in LA in like 1993)
From what I can find, as recently as 2020, he still owns the the car. It is/was a 1987, white, purchased after the release of the album Straight out of Compton. Possibly the same car was used in the 2015 film of the same name, depicting his life. Which would make sense as he has a Producer credit for the film, and iirc was intimately involved in the movie production. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I will find the article but I think a different car was used. That’s awesome if he still in fact owns it.
Yeah I actually have always liked and respected Dre - great talent- good businessman- ghetto enough to be cool and have necessary "cred" but not over the top. Decent actor as well. Would be cool if he still has it- And personifies my point if he has/kept an 87 Testarossa versus grabbing an Aventador, wrapping it and putting 22s on it
You are correct The car used in the movie was subsequently sold on eBay. From eBay's blog https://www.ebay.com/motors/blog/now-on-ebay-ferrari-from-straight-outta-compton/ You can see the differences in the mirrors, The first picture I posted is a screenshot from the movie, and the second is a screen cap from Snoop's Who am I (what's my name) video, which was shot in period. Appearing at approximately 1:30
Funny- I had an 88 white Testarossa (with actual white interior mind you) and nobody contacted me- sad
The What's my name video would have had to have been filmed relatively close to his police chase/DUI arrest in 93/94 What's my name released October 10th 93, The chase and arrest occurred January 10th '94 https://apnews.com/article/ef394dac02fde7cacc61dde647a47651
He does not own that car anymore (this has been talked about on here in the past and a member confirmed it from Andre's mouth). Also, I had a book about him that I read about 10 years ago in which he stated that he liquidated his entire car collection as he was getting his taxes sorted out in the mid 90s. He made the typical mistake of a youngester with too much money coming in and nobody to help him manage it. It lines up with the member's account. Another member on here also mentioned that he lived in the same neighborhood and used to keep the car parked outside all the time so if it is still around, it probably is not in the best of shape or could have turned into a parts car. To my knowledge, I have never seen it on the market and I've followed the TR market since the late 90s. It's more than likely parted out or the past few owners who have had it know nothing about its past. On a side note. I drove the car that was allegedly used in the movie for the green screen shots out in Malibu back in 2012. It was in really bad shape cosmetically. interior and exterior. I wasn't too confident in it mechanically either and passed. This was back when the collector car market was still rational and normal unlike today. The interior leather had been completely redone.
