Black Stig was Perry McCarthy
White Stig is unknown but probably Ben Collins

UK press say the first Stig was either Perry MCarthy or Mark Lemmer (sometime British touring car racer) and the most recent Ben Collins (now part of Red Bull's NASCAR driver program)

Nay, nay, the BBC is NOT funded by the government, but by the Television Licence paid by every TV set owners in Britain to the tune of £135 per year, whether he/she watches it or not.

Perry McCarthy was pretty much confirmed if I am not mistaken.

 

They used to have detector vans apparently (i have seen them), i suppose they could have been 'dummies' as they would have a list of people who didnt have a licence and claiming the vans detect tvs is a good way to scare people into buying. None of us had one in our student house and no one ever came knocking.... My mate got busted in his house at uni and the fine was less than the cost of actually buying one anyway.

 

Hahaha that's brilliant They'll give you a few warnings first but then they stand outside knocking on your door. Paracites.

As an aside:

My 3 year old nephew is an automobile afficianado. He loves Top Gear and in particular loves the Stig.

A few months ago, my brother and I decided to give him a surprise. He told his son that the Stig was going to visit. I dressed up in my driving suit, complete with white helmet, and showed up at the front door. When my nephew saw me, he turned to his dad and said "That's not the Stig. The Stig isn't fat".

If you're interested, I read "Flat Out and Flat Broke" by Perry McCarthy several months ago. He writes of some of his experiences as The Stig. It's a reasonably entertaining read. Really focused more on how someone must be singularly focused on raising funds to go racing and the chances with his life and marriage he was taking to perform at that level.

"Sting" is actually "Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner". Did anyone catch his reunion tour with the Police?

There were rumors that Damon Hill was the "Stig" from Top Gear. Any chance that is true or that they use different drivers at different times?

Bonus points if anyone can name the US Stig or the African Stig for when they traveled to those continents.

Olivier Panis played the Stig in the Toyota f1 indoor test.

 

The black Stig was confirmed as Perry McCarthy, accept twice when Julian Bailey had to do it because Perry was busy with Audi. The current one, at least most of the time, is Ben Collins. If you pay attention to all the details, and check out the vids on his website, it's actually kind of obvious.

 

Don't know who it is for sure, probably a few but one of them can handle a F1 car
