As far as I know, you could buy the 288 GTO in any color you wanted as long as it was red... so no - white is not the original color.
Interesting. The other White 288gto I've seen from down under only in pics is claimed to be factory by the owner as well. I just don't see a Red Ferrari leaving Maranello with blue interior. Wow at least I hope not. I wonder where one looks or finds such info?
I believe the interiors were re-trimmed blue when the cars were painted. The 250 TR, as mentioned above, is a replica.
It was not a TR, it was a 250 California. http://jalopnik.com/391696/1961-ferrari-250-gt-california-sells-for-10976000-setting-world-record-as-most-expensive-car-ever
He didn't buy the world record 250 TR last year. I believe this car is in the US. Im not sure i would sell all these cars for a GTO.
I agree although the 250 gto is bada$$. I'd prefer numerous cool cars over one. Although reading that article it really doesn't appear that he did buy a 250 gto and he is truly selling them for the money.
Yep, the GTO is amazing , but i think one need to be worth at least half a billion and already have a dozen of cars to buy one. Too many cool cars for the GTO entry price !
Funny you mention that because tiesto makes between $70,000 - $200,000 depending on what shows and where. And he is usually booked 5 nights a week. Couple that with the production company and other ventures and suddenly owning stuff like this is within reason!
Also wasnt it a world record 250 California Spider (black I believe) that be bought last year? Not a TR....
Yes Chris Evans' 288 GTO chassis number 55233 is definitely a re-spray. It was re-painted in white by DK Engineering in the UK at Evans' request. It is imaged below in its original red livery, and again just after completion at DK's premises. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
While it is not the best color on an F40, that belongs to black or red, the white has grown on me alot.
funny I emailed for a price on the 288 and got no response. respray means less monies Thanks for the info. I wish he hadn't changed the interior.
Chris Evans bought S/N 2377GT in Maranello, in 2008 for 10.9MM (7.4MM pounds). Which at the time was the most expensive car purchased at an auction. In 2009 the record was reset by "the black Testa Rossa" S/N 0714 for 12.2MM. Chris Evans did not buy the TR.
The Times article was just after Christmas and I understood his TR purchase was recent (not the 2009 Auctioned TR $12m)....therefore something didn't quite add up. Irrespective of that he has a lovely collection and he appears to use the cars a lot which is nice to see.
funny still no response from the sellers. that's 250k over asking of all the other 288's. I wonder why?
