I have a 86 DD in pearl white, I am having the caulkings re-done. I was told the white color cars came with both white caulking and black caulking and both being correct. I have been looking at pictures of white countach with both colors and a few even have black caulking around the wheel arches and white caulking around the hood area. I like to seek what the opinions are among the countach owners. Please help. Thank You.

There are a few well-known Countach experts/restorers on this board who can tell you. I always thought that the caulking was always black. I was told that that's how you can tell whether a car has been redone or not. Could be wrong though.
I like the black because it brings definition to certain lines on the car.

I'm thinking you will be more satisfied having it uniform throughout the car, either way, and I'm certain that would be the factory application.

Do you think this started with the QV's or earlier years?

i have black caulking on my QV and recently had the rear of my car repainted. (euro rear conversion). The rear guards were also painted and hence the caulk lines were white.

I must say that the white looked so much better and made the car look more refined and "better built".

But because the rest of the car was black, we re caulked the car in black.

If you have the 88.5 that came from Texas, that was my old car and indeed it came from the factory with black caulking.

    That's the one baby!

And it is now a great car!

It took a bucket load of money and some sweet tender TLC.

Yes that is Bob, and that is the Very First Countach i have ever sat in. A long time ago that was. He has owned that car many years, but like many owners i know, unfortunately they have no interest in being a member on the forums.

Amazing that it's on the other side of the world now. The guy I sold it to had some really interesting ideas on how a CT was supposed to be, I'm glad it's in good hands now. Post some pics please!
