I'm seeing quite a few white 458's and I have to admit they look pretty good. What's going on? Is it the 458 lines or the times? A white color for previous models were generally considered a resale negative.
White is my #1 Choice for my upcoming 458 Sider. It was considered a set back for many years. I blame that in Don Johnson - just kidding I see a lot of 458's coming out in white. I truly believe this has been the best Ferrari to option in white ever
This is from the Ferrari June, 2010 newsletter: After red, black (Nero) is the next most popular color for Ferraris, worldwide and in North America, accounting for about one in five cars. It, too, is from the standard palate. Ferrari clients can choose colors from two other groups, metallic colors and "1950s and 1960s" colors, and they can also request special-order colors. The silver/gray (Grigio) families, found on the metallic color palate, make up the third most popular Ferrari color group. The metallic palate also features some stunning blues, including the extra-cost Azzuro California, which was the launch color for the California model; it is featured in many official factory photos and videos. The appropriately named "1950s and 1960s colors" palate includes 10 choices. Blu Scozzia, for example, is a modern take on Blu Sera. Verde (green) looks particularly stunning on classic Ferraris, and now, new ones as well. This group also includes non-metallic grays, a unique offering among high-line cars. Worldwide Ferrari client color preferences have changed over dozen or so years. Red has been consistently popular, and black has roughly doubled its share since 1997. White (Bianco Avus) is now more popular than yellow (Giallo Modena) on new Ferraris. Ferrari offers some stunning blues in the standard, metallic and historic color palates. Blu Tour de France, a metallic, goes on nearly one in 25 Ferraris in North America.
That's some great insight Thanks very much for this valuable info Very interesting to see white is more popular than Yellow
obviously, I'm impartial, but being this is my first Ferrari in white, I absolutely love it. It better illustrates the lines and design genius of the car....better in person too! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
White has been the new hot color for the last three years and is growing more popular every day. This has not been limited to just Ferrari, other exotics and German imports either. But includes the entire spectrum from Honda,Toyota to GM, Ford & Chrysler. What the new "IT" color will be in 4 years is anybodys guess. Almost orderd my GTO in avus but decided on rosso. Red has always been considered a power color. In my mind, thats exactly the kind of statement I expect my car to make.
Car companies actually consult and pay big money to get a preview of what the next 'IT' color will be. Fashion color trends are a big source for color direction for the car company consultants. They work four years ahead of where they are today on 'color' for the car companies. CH
I have read studies that the reason white has become so popular is a direct result of the success of Apple's IPOD, IMAC. etc/ Go figure!
I'm strongly leaning toward ordering my 458 in white, also. I just can't decide on interior colors, though. Black with white stitching/piping is a natural but I'm not a big fan of black interiors, especially in hot, humid So. Florida. Doing it up entirely in Cuoio, even the dash, is a safe bet but a little boring. I wonder how it would look with the lightest interior Ferrari offers - Crema - trimmed in black? I've seen an F430 with metallic black exterior and beige piped in black interior and it was stunning, but wonder if the bright whiteness of the exterior will clash with the off-white of the interior. Anyone have any ideas about that? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Crema is a beautiful interior but amazingly difficult to keep clean, if you wear jeans or black pants your seats will be stained.
Here is a Bianco Avus Cali with Sabbia to give you an idea. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I haven't seen Sabbia or Beige in person but have seen Crema and Cuoio, and Crema looked like an eggshell color, more white than tan. I guess I'll have to see them all in person when I visit the Atelier when my turn comes to spec my 458 in a few months. From the pics it looks like the Sabbia goes a little more toward beige than it goes white. I'm not afraid of keeping it clean as I have "Linen" trimmed with "Beluga" on my Conti GTC Speed and haven't struggled keeping it clean, though it does show every little smudge, I'll admit. Since my plan is to kept the GTC when I get the Italia, it might look strange that I have two cars that are spec'd almost the same but I guess if that's what I like, I shouldn't concern myself with what others think (except if it absolutely kills resale value). If you are going to get a while one and cant decide of the interior- they do this chocolate brown that is really nice (imagine that with white stitching), or even the birds egg blue would look good. Maybe even Rosso Corsa or Orange leather if you reallly want to stand out?
I think similar colors But different cars looks cool I once had a Yellow/blk 355 and the same in a NSX
there is a white 458 in the Ferrari Store in NYC that I got to see up close and personal yesterday, absolutely beautiful
I had seen pics of the white and thought it looked good. Yesterday saw a white in real life and hated it. Go figure.
White with Rosso or Bordaux with white Daytona inserts and white piping and stiching is a stunning combo. Have seen a 430 done this way but think that car was paint to sample Bianco Fuji (Pearl White) which costs a ton but stiil should look breathtaking in a 458. Just my 2 cents
I must admit that after years of getting it wrong, that White exterior with Black Leather & White stitching is prob the best. White on White Leather though or any derivative is, so Bee Gees ....
If I chose white, I'd still go for cuoio interior. I don't think it's boring, it's simply the best match just as red goes great with tan or tdf fantastic with crema. While crema or sabbia dont' look bad at all with white, I'd definitely go for cuoio or tan because these contrast better IMO.
Have you ever considered Bianco Avus with Cioccolato interior? Not sure how it works on the 458 but this is what I ordered on my California.
