I've noticed the 458 comes with 3 different tires on delivery. Michelin Pilot Sport, Pirelli P Zero, and Bridgestone Potenza.

1- Which did yours come with?
2- Does anyone know what the choice of tires is based on? (region, time of production, make year?)
3- What are your preferences of the three?

You can choose the tyre brand when ordering the car, at least in Europe.

My dealer told me Michelin is the one that did the most development work with Ferrari on the 458. He said definitely go with the Michelin so I did.

I know that 315/30/20 Toyo R888 and 245/30/20 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup+ N Spec are being put on the stock wheels for better lap times at the track.

Only 20" wheels on the 458, no 19". So far, all OEM wheels/tires are the same size. Have to confirm on the new 5 vee, 10 spoke wheels.

The PZero Rossos and PZero Rosso System (directionals in front and assymetrics in the rear) are older tire designs. The new PZero tires were brought out in the last 2 years or so and are now being fitted to new Ferraris. They are a completly new design and usually have a much higher wear rating than the same size Rossos while providing equivalent grip. Limited sizes compared to the Rossos, but a better tire overall.

My 458 arrived today, and came with P Zeros. I wish it would stop snowing so that I can go pick it up.

The current issue of AutoWeek has a story about a new Michelin tire called the pilot super sport (PSS) which will replace the PS2s. According to Michelin, it was developed by working closely with Porsce, Ferrari and BMW's M division. Michelin claims much better performance over the PS2s and they are supposed to wear better also. They are already available as OE on 458s and 599 GTOs and will be available in Europe in January, NA in April.

The Super Sports are only available for the 599 GTO currently. 458 sizes should be one of the next releases.
