Hello, Which NGK Iridium spark plug do you guys recommend for a 1995 F355? Searching comes up with CR7EIX but NGK's website says CR8EIX. Thanks in advance, Dan.
I am running CR7EIX in my 1997 355 spider. 7 is the same heat range as the stock plug. An "8" would be one range cooler (not sure why NGK has that wrong, but they have it wrong on the 308 series too) Same plug across all years of 355. *Note: the CR7EIX will be missing the metal screw on caps, but most autoparts stores stock them.
If you are going to the trouble to change them, don't forget new paper gaskets to reseal the covers...and while you are at it, not a bad idea to replace the foam plug at the end of the cam cover that the plug wires pass through. To be honest, it would not be a bad idea to just go ahead and replace your plug wires too, if they are original to the car. You can get new 8mm ones (stock is 7mm) with factory Beru plug ends from www.kingsborne.com For the cost of about one and a half stock oem wires, you can get the entire set from Kingsborne! ($230 or so)
Yea, what Dave said. No run ability problems with this set up. Just did 800 miles in 80+ deg temps hills and mountains. Not one problem except when Shell was out of high test and had to put 87 in. While your in there, do the complete set up youll thank yourself later.
I have NGK PMR8B's fitted, but some say 7A's are correct. Who is correct? What is the difference? confused!
INTERESTING! I just noticed that for the 1995 model year 355, that NGK indeed recommends the PMR8A. Which is one heat range colder than the PMR7A for the 1996-1999 model years. Why? I don't understand, and have always heard the guys with the 1995 years using the PMR7A or in the alternative the CR7EIX. I suppose if you are not experiencing any plug fouling to continue to use the 8....now what the difference is between the "A" and "B" designation, I don't know....
I have a 95 and the plugs will foul if the car is started cold and shut off without letting the car warm up enough for the fans to turn on. I had heard this is a problem with the 95's and it might be way they went to a hotter plug in later years.
