That may be true but the dashboard switch is probably Italian. If it's Italian and electricity passes through it............it will fail. ;)

Had some trouble with the console switches; replacements are difficult.
Believe it or not, this worked for me:
    1. Battery off
    2. Spray Radio Shack electric contact cleaner into the switch through the sides
    3. Cycle switch furiously many times for two minutes
    4. Let dry for a couple of hours
    5. Battery on

    Incredible - it works again.

    Russ,
Thanks for the tip. Did you remove the switch from the console or just sprayed it in place?

no, this one always worked so far. but once, late in the night, after a business dinner, the fuse for the headlight opening motors failed, and i had no spare. was funny to drive home in the dark :)

and actually, the switch for the fog lights broke.

Isn't there a way to raise the headlights manually, as on the 3.2 ?

How about....."Lucas, the father of the intermittent windshield wiper."

Even though i'm not British, i've earned the right to joke about Lucas. I've raced MG Midgets and AH Sprites for years. :)

    Sprayed in place.
    Woo - hoo.

The first thing a Mondial owner does at the first sign of any problem, including a flat tire, is check the fuses. :)

....and the second is any of the hundreds of relays! Sort of lost the plot on this thread, for which Mondial to go for then 3.0 QV every time!

They are all good; The way I would summarize:
3.0 = incredible car for the money, daily grand touring. Focus on the superb handling and balance. Easiest to maintain (16 valves); 0-60 times at 8+ seconds about like a 250 GT Lusso, so it's kind of a 308 'Lusso' to me.
3.0qv = as above with obvious more power. 0-60s in the 7s Cabs introduced
3.2 = More power still, and benefits from the updated bumpers. Last of the cars where you didn't have to drop the engine for a major service. Most developed and typically reliable of the series. 0-60s in high 6s - 7
t = really a modern car with electric suspension, Motronic and more power. Nice interior. 0-60s in mid low 6s. Usually significantly more expensive than the transverse engined cars.

    Go for the 3.2!

    1. Black looks better on a Mondial.
    2. For the same price, the 3.2 is a lot more powerful.
    3. The bumpers on the 3.2 are nicer looking, although if the car is black, it doesn't make as much difference.
