Which Ferrari is most likely to appreciate?

Classic and Sports car did an article this month on a 550 Barchetta, and it said that they would almost double in the next two years! Good news for me.

 

Is it? Increased values might lure you into making a mistake like selling your Ferrari. You'd miss it when it's gone...

Too late Andrew, its just gone up for sale, but it is only to help fund the work on the other one next to it, and yes i am sure i will regret it, not just financially.

As for the original question; I'd hazard a guess that older and/or small production run Ferrari's will appreciate, as will those with significant history. It's unlikely to be a constant upward trend though, as prevailing economic conditions can affect market values.

 

LHD 550 barchettas will still go a bit down in value I believe. In 10 to 15 years they will sell for a lot of $/£/€

550's in general. Not sure in what time period, I don't see them appreciating much in the next 5/8 years, but IMO it'll be worth a fair amount of coin by 2025.

I would love to say 355's, but too many have been made. Won't lose any money though, maybe pristine examples will appreciate again.

Challenge Stradales. It's already a classic, but in 10 years they'll be fetching a lot. Last of the 40 valve V8's...

As to which Ferrari is most likely to appreciate of the moderns the 360CS 430 Scuderia, 550 Barchetta and 575SA have to be good bets as they were made in relatively small numbers.

The new 599SA Aperta which will be rarer than a factory Daytona Spyder has to surely be a rock solid investment even at it's frightening base price.

Of the older models the glass 308's have room to appreciate in the short term as they are still less than half a decent 246. Boxer's have always lagged behind the older front engined cars but suspect a few people will look to them as the 288GTO and F40 have shot up in recent years.

RHD Barchetta have gone up a lot in the last few years, when i first started to look in 2007 they where £65-70,000, now, mine is the cheapest for sale at the moment at £110,000 and one is for sale at £165,000!!!

 

No guys, invest in a 308GT4 (mk2) the Fezza badged one, It can only appreciate
In 50 years mine might be worth some money!

I think the rarity of RHD GT4's (547 made, guess at 200 left in the UK) would make this a long term keeper. Mine is insured for £20k and I paid nearly half that almost 6 years ago.

 

I kind of guessed you might say that Seriously though I paid 12k for mine 4 years ago, it would be interesting to see what it is really worth now. Insurance aside, its what someone is willing to pay for it that matters - unless you intend to torch it
I guess the problem would be if they appreciate too much you are then into 355 space, and I know what i would buy (sadly not the GT4)..

 

I agree with the above I think the GT4 would be a wise investment.

 

I would really like to say that the 348 will rise in value, but I don't think it will. Certainly not in the short term.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I kinda hope it doesn't appreciate in the short term. I just don't want the entry point for me to be constantly moving out of my reach.
