You guys splitting hairs on how they sound. 458's are going to sound louder with an aftermarket exhaust. Period. I'm most excited about the weight savings and HP gain. - Stock exhausts have to meet EPA requirements and they are restrictive and HEAVY! (even with the flaps open) Sound? blah blah blah you punch it ten or twenty times and it's like playing your favorite song on a killer system over and over. (Awesome but you get over it) I like to drop weight because every pound dropped equals more thrust and better handling. A 458 Challenge is 2,535 lbs. Our road going 458's are 3,274 lbs! If we can lose at least 30lbs with just a Ti slip-on and gain 11hp @ 9000 that's a really good thing. As far as looks the triple tips are so trick looking, but would look better if all three tips were the same size. That's what Fabspeed should build (they are at least somewhat reasonable on price) The double tips is same old same old Porsche looking.
Stock sounds fine to me especially in RACE mode. Questions: Does an aftermarket exhaust void your warranty? Will the aftermarket exhaust trigger a check engine light? If you get a check engine light after installing was it caused by the new exhaust? How will you be certain? Please note I had a tubi exhaust on my F355 and my 360 Spider. Much improved over stock but not anywhere as great as the stock 458 Spider.
For starters i would put a capristo exhaust bypass system, i could not imagine driving my car w/o it I am very happy with my stock exhaust sound with the flaps open, could not think of a better sound. I also put in the bmc carbon racing air filter, oem titanium tips (both deepen the sound) and run the car on 100 octane fuel all the time (even tho some ppl might disagree the 100 octane makes an enormous difference in performance imho). If anyone is living in the Los Angeles, California area the Union 76 gas station on the corner of Bundy and San Vicente sells 100 octane fuel, expensive but soooo much worth it Result of all the mods: badass, deep, gurgling, backfiring, f1 hi rev style sound and much better performance imho 76 - 12037 San Vicente Blvd - Los Angeles, CA - Los Angeles Gas Prices http://www.ferrari.com/english/services/aftersales/ferrari-genuine/458-italia/Pages/458-TitaniumTailpipes.aspx CRF - CARBON RACING FILTERS - CARS CRF614/01 | BMC AIR FILTERS The only reason i would consider putting an aftermarket exhaust is for the weight savings, here is a link to the novitec extreme exhaust coupled with the reworked ecu pushing the rev limiter to 9100, cool but i get the same sound from my setup, even the 'gurgling' sound upon deceleration which i love [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euFjMVLrv9w&feature=player_embedded]Novitec Rosso Ferrari 458 Italia INSANE SOUND! - YouTube[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-M6DTv4FMY]Ferrari 458 Italia with Novitec Rosso Extreme Exhaust System - YouTube[/ame] Ferrari also makes an exhaust setup for the 458 which is supposed to improve the sound. I might look into putting that system on in a while. One of the best all around exhaust systems for the 458 is the Akrapovic. We will be posting up a thread with before and after sound clips, dyno clips, pictures, and power gains. Another alternative and good option is the Novitec Rosso Systems.
Below is a comprehensive thread that we just posted of the Akrapovic Exhaust System with before and after photos, video, and dyno charts. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/458-italia/407246-akrapovic-ferrari-458-exhaust-before-after-pictures-videos-dyno-hg-motorsports.html#post142284610
This is my one with Capristo full system. Just a non professional video done with the cell-phone by my daughter. But you can get an idea ...... Forget the pic, just listen. Regards - Webber45 Image Unavailable, Please Login

I would say Powercraft [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=184ODvfi7sc]Power Craft 458 ITALIA Hybrid Exhaust System - YouTube[/ame]
I have owned a 458 for 2 years. Originally, I anticipated doing what I had done to the 360 and 430, but after listening to every You tube video I could not find anything (each one is under different circumstances, i.e. tunnels, dyno, street, standing still, etc.) I decided to install an "on/off" switch for the valves. What this did was to eliminate the lousy (imo) transistion from closed to open valves everytime the rev limiter goes up and keeps the "open" sound steady and enjoyable. The ability of turning off the valves allows "peace and quiet" when conversing with a passenger or speaking on the phone. The actual "sound" is a matter of how each of us "hears". IMO, there is nothing that leaves the cats and mufflers in place (necessary for U.S. smog compliance) that SIGNIFICANTLY improves the above mentioned set up. Best
Novitec sound the best but long term maybe not sustainable I don't think - it's a little TOO loud but sounds fan-bloody-tactic!! Not sure what the drone would be like on a long run but I read that the valves do a good job of switching from normal to insane mode in a civilised manor

I have the iPE headers/cats/exhaust - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBVkMfcBTo4]Ferrari 458 Italia with IPE Exhaust - In Action - YouTube[/ame] Sounds F1 amazing at revs. Almost same DBs as stock up to about 3100rpm, then it unleashes. I drive with valves open all the time. Very happy with the new setup including powder coated black tips ($1500 cheaper than buying the Ferrari aftermarket version). I like the stock exhaust sounds, but wanted something more. I'm also a big fan of the Novitec Rosso setup. If you don't want to spend the $s on an aftermarket exhaust, I HIGHLY recommend the Capristo remote valve control - made the 458 sound so much better at low revs. My understanding on such aftermarket mods related to warranties: they do not void the warranty, until there's an issues, and Ferrari can prove that the mod caused the issue. I've heard stories where Ferrari claimed the mod caused the issue and lost when the lawyers got involved, and others where Ferrari won. I don't have any details, just 2nd hand stories. I have aftermarket exhaust on my other cars and have never had a problem...
[ How to disable the valves ? Tks QUOTE=Bounce;140041382]Stock is fine, just disable the valves? other wise take a look at this [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHkxkRkpkKY[/ame] akrapovic exhaust system[/QUOTE]
I spent the money on novitec muffler boxes and capristo valve controller. If I were to do it again, I would save the $10k and use the valve controller with the stock mufflers.
+1 ipe ive heard them in the flesh, they sound just like an f1 car even at relativly low speeds. When i have 5 mins spare ill be working out which ine to put on mine
Hi Nee Loh, I honestly cannot say what aftermarket exhaust sounds (or IS) the best. I recently purchased a 458 Spider, had the flaps disconnected on stock exhaust, and I am very happy with the sound. For sure I would recommend that at least you try this first, as cost is 0, and you can go back anytime for the same cost if you are not happy. I know there are differences between the Spider and the Italia OEM exhausts, but I don't think this would change my opinion if I had an Italia. A relatively inexpensive step in better, if you like the sound but not anytime, is to install a remote valves controller, as many do. Of course you would miss the weight saving and performance increase (in some cases, like de-cat systems+reflash), but sure you won't miss a lot of money!
This is my set up https://instagram.com/p/BKgi-AFAv5Y/ Fabspeed headers, test pipes, and novitec mufflers
this! before receiving the car (having never even owning/driving a Speciale), being hugely into setting up all of the previous cars i've owned, i was already on the hunt for an exhaust. however, when the Speciale was delivered, i was very pleasantly surprised with the OEM sound! i literally threw on the Forza valve controller yesterday, and the ability to get that really awesome deep idle and low rpm rumble at the flip of a switch is really cool. i think the next baby-step would be to look into high flow cats once a CEL solution is available. i don't know if i'll be touching the rest of the exhaust system, as Ferrari has done such an awesome job. i suspect, as many have, that the Speciale was also tuned back for sound limits at tracks.
I am considering the FI exhaust: Frequency Intelligent Exhaust - Valvetronic Technology for Supercars The combination of flames and sound..... LOL However, I cannot decide the color of the tips... the color of my car is black and I am thinking gold wheels with golden tips....
Vissber, they're definitely one of the more popular brands for the 458 when it comes to being loud and throwing flames. Would love to talk to you some more about dialing your setup, I will fire over a PM!
