Resurrecting an old thread. Lovely to see how the cars look so different in different hues. My Grigio alloy metallic here.
Biased toward Grigio Silverstone myself. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Grigio Titanio is very well adapted to the V12 (Maranello by example) and Rosso Scuderia for the V8 IMO. The must is Rosso Scuderia with Grigio Silverstone opaco roof. Fred. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have been following this thread and while a) my 458S is black and I love it and b) a 458 could be polka dots or zebra stripes and still look amazing, I have to admit that of all the colors shown this thread - and given the title of the thread - My vote for "which color shows the lines best" for a 458 is Grigio Titanio - especially with yellow rotors and shields. Simply beautiful. Cheers
My Gosh - I thought I had pretty much seen all colors and definitely all shades of blue - but that I have never seen or even heard of - Absolutely amazing
Some more photos of Grigio Silverstone with better lighting. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I feel like color is one of the least important aspects of showing off the 458's (or any car for that matter) lines. Lighting, angle, camera quality, camera settings, and all of that are most important. Like here's a photo of my Rosso Scud 458 taken by me with a phone camera. It's golden hour, sure, but the composition is terrible. The angle isn't great. And there are too many distracting shadows. Hard to really show off the lines. Look at the transition from the door to the rear of the car which is beautifully sculpted but hard to discern here. Camera settings, lighting, and angle allow for reflections to really pick up the different design lines: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, my 458 is also black and I love it but given that the title of the thread asks which shows lines the best, not show off your ride- in this case, it has to be Grigio Titanio.
Lots of beautiful cars are showcased in this thread. However, If we return to the original spirit/intent of the thread, generally the paintwork that best accentuates the lines of these cars will be metallics and pearls including multi-layer metallics and mica paints. This is due to the way the light reflects, and in some cases refracts, from the particles (flakes/spheres, etc) suspended in the paint.
