Going to be in South Boston (super 8 to be precise) Fri APR 23- Sat 24 for the Races at VIR. Trying to plan things out such as dinner and what to do for the evening as we are not from the area...

Me and the lady are also interested in doing the some camping/hiking as well after the races, anywhere interesting on that front?

    Thanks in advance!

As to dinner: Out in that part of the state, you eat what you kill and give the rest to the neighbors. You will do plenty of hiking dragging it back to the car, however; if you hear the strains of "Dueling Banjoes" then run.

"run faster, i hear banjo music" lol

I do see that Hanging Rock State Park, NC is a reasonable distance from the track, not to sure about setting up a (new to me) tent in the dark....

Raced at VIR many times...nothing down there worth seeing...enjoy your time at the track (it is my favorite circuit in the country along with Mid-Ohio and Laguna) but it is in the middle of Redneck Hell.

    :p

The people (including the corner workers) couldn't be nicer and more fun to be around. I usually stay on track and don't leave unless I'm drawn out. Dinner @ Connie's pub (located on the resort property) is first rate. If you head into town I would suggest the large Mexican restaurant on the right hand side entering town - especially if you enjoy huge margaritas. Cookouts at the track will likely be plentiful. Off track I would suggest the Best Western over the Super 8 and Sleep Inn. You'll thank me later.
