A few classics down that way, Tarpon Inn...maybe check Texas Monthly and ???

I like the Butter Churn in Port Aransas but because it's a family style homey place with awesome quantities, not because it's impressive.

A friend owns Josie's Mexican Restaurant in Rockport, also not impressive, but those college girls in the Tequila Bar out back..:D :D :D....sorry, not more help.

If you like Vietnamese food, a couple of good mom & pop spots - Hu-Dat Noodle House & Saigon Cafe.

King's Inn, no question. The drug store across the street from the King Ranch saddle shop is also excellent. Must go to the King Ranch saddle shop in Kingsville, they have some awesome merchandise from clothes to furniture to luggage, great stuff.

In Weslaco Arturo's - great food. In Mission there's La Fogata - world class. Would fit into Beverly Hills, Chicago, Dallas, etc., the food reasonable priced for the all around quality and atmosphere.

On Padre try Dirty Al's for seafood.

I just visited SPI back in May. Obviously we didn't visit everything there, but here are some places that stood out from everything else.

Grapevine Cafe - must for breakfast or lunch. Typical cafe menu items plus a very plentiful Mexican selection. If you go for breakfast expect a wait.

Senor Donkey - Mexican restaurant, excellent food. It might show on maps as the Big Donkey.

Pelican Station - across the causeway in Port Isabel. This was my personal favorite out of all the seafood places we ate at.

    Daddy's - cajun and seafood.

Gabriella's - it's Italian, but it's worth mentioning. Lots of locals seemed to recommend this place, and I enjoyed their brick oven pizza (despite being a bit "messy" in appearance).
