Any recommendations in Austin for refinishing wheels, need repainting because of curb rash - trying to avoid having to pack and ship. THX Franck
I have some rare & now-discontinued wheels that needed refinishing. This shop/service was highly recommended by many: www.awrswheelrepair.com/austin Mark Repella 512-426-7611 [email protected] I spoke to him a month or so ago. They collect the wheels locally & send them to their regional repair facility for repairs/refinishing (near Dallas, I believe). Turn-around is literally a handful of days (< 5 days). They'll dismount/dispose of your old tires & mount/balance new tires if you provide them at the time of giving your damaged/blemished rims (or remount the old tires), an additional ~$100 savings right there for 4/corners dismounting-mounting-balancing low-profile tires on alloy wheels. Compared to rest of the industry, they aren't the most expensive nor are they the cheapest. But, they seem to be reliable, convenient, and committed to their work. As aforementioned, they come highly recommended by many of the local premium/luxury dealerships. . . If the wheels have minor curb-rash/scratches/gouges, it's plausible their mobile-repair service can do it on-site. However, my wheels have a crack or two & need to be completely refinished, so they stated that they'd send them to their regional repair facility which would then "make them look as-if brand new". . . I come over for Jesse Dayton's Thursday Broken Spoke gig.... I can bring them back in the truck to Wheels America here.......129.oo each
Discount Tire and other NTB centers use Wheels America. Same price shipped from/to the shop you drop it off. They work well, but sometimes their clear coat doesn't match nor does it hold up as well as the OEM clear coat.
The guy I was going to partner with bailed on me! He's just one of those typical Rich dudes that doesn't know what it's like to earn a freakin REAL dollar..... Sorry.....nothing against the Rich people out there...... Anyhow, there are a few places in town that offer Wheel Refinishing, and there's a Mobile guy on Craigslist. Just FYI.....
Chase at AWRS was recommended to me. He has their mobile unit, perfect for curb scrapes and the like. Haven't personally used them yet, but I trust the guy who told me and I'm planning to use them this week for two of my Audi wheels. Cheers Alex
