What a wild winter. No snow in the east and 251" in the mountains in Seattle - another 12" coming today. Only one problem, all the roads are closed because of downed trees and avalanche control. I give, I go back to the east and should have brought a bathing suit and now I sit staring at my "fat boys."
Punxatawnie Phil saw his shadow. Looks like we have more time to prep our cars for that first spring drive! --- - Ken B. posted this from his iPhone using Tapatalk.
I am surprised the huge Colorado storm missed Utah. Denver has amazing weather. One day it's in the 60's in the middle of winter, and the next day it snows 10 inches. While Utah is having warmer weather for winter, it only gets into the mid 40's. We never get a blast of 60 degree weather that Denver gets which is good or bad depending on who you talk to. To me, it would make winter a lot easier having warm spells every once in a while.
I heard the storm hit central and southern Utah harder than the north. We only got a couple inches here in Lehi.
I fished the Eagle river yesterday. The fly fishing is very good. The skiing continues to stink IMO. The Back Bowls of Vail were frozen solid on Wednesday and the worst I have seen them in early March ever. I'm going back out today to check it out. The groomers continue to be okay. The bumps are getting a little skiied off. If it continues like this, I will hang up my skis and just pull out the old fly rod this afternoon!
Got out today after driving up yesterday. Crazy warm! 60 plus in Park City? Wtf. Quit after 2 runs. Hanging up the skis unless something crazy happens. Time to fly fish.
I guess we got all your snow, sorry 10 feet in 10 days with a high tomorrow of 23F. Back country is closed but this is the most surreal season in the Northwest that has ever been on record. They officially announced that the season will end June 9th, and the 2012-13 season opens June 16th. Sorry not trying to rub it in but it is just surreal. I am at the condo now and staring at the mountain and it looks like mid-season. P.S. they closed a chairlift as it was too close to the snow and people were jumping off.
Vail mountain closes today, and what do we get? 4" last night, and it's still falling. Really? We couldn't BUY it for the season, and here it comes. Oh well, some years are bountiful. Others not so much. CW
we got ( still getting ) over 14 feet in the last 3 weeks. Sorry not rubbing it in but it really is upside down this year. In Seattle we are usually washed out by now, never would have thought we would stay open longer than Vail. They closed the resort yesterday to expire the 2012 passes and will reopen Friday for the 2013 season. I honestly think I will ski the entire year.
Six inches at my mid mountain home in Deer Valley last two days. Wtf? Can't snow worth a darn when I'm up to ski then screw up my mem day holiday! Ready for summer, thank you.....
