    An average car costs 600 million to develop. A new line/model? Figure 2 Billion. Yes, Billion.

    Sell a million new trucks (certainly possible over 3-4 years for all versions) and it is only $1000-$1500 per vehicle.

    They make that much on upgraded wheels and chrome doodads on the option list.

    the chicago tribune did an article 15+ years ago and got a list from GM,to put together a corvette [$50k list] would cost you over the parts counter $500k,,
    the numbers i was told by a GM engineer [mid 90's]that a car that listed for $40k,cost GM $12-13k[this was the whole cost including labor and warrenty][warrenty was about $1k per car],,this was thru a buddy that manufactured lighting [headlights/fog/tail lights]the cost to make a ford mustang fog light was about $4.oo,ford payed $6.oo,cost over the parts counter was about $56.oo,,a headlight cost them $11.oo,ford payed $16.oo,over the parts counter was $200.oo,,
