Anybody know whats going on at Ferrari of Ontario? Every time I go in that place they have new people working there. I was thinking about asking for an apprentice job but I hear this guy Ramo is really a tough guy to work for, is that why no one stays?

Remo is not a very nice boss. (so I have heard). He basicly makes customers beg to buy Ferrari's and treats his employee's like crap. He has the biggest ego of anybody out there, becuase he knows he's the only game in town for new Ferrari's. Their prices for parts are way out to luch most of the time. Get this: I was quoted $3500 for a 348 water pump. I called the U.S. and it turns out the pump is about $650U.S. So with exchange and shipping it's still way cheaper then Ferrari of Ontario.

All in all I don't think it would be a good place to work for one who his just starting out with Ferrari. You will be walked on and kicked around like your a dirty garbage can on wheels. Go get a job a M-benz dealer, and then you will be happy and make more money.

Paul will most definetly still be there. He runs Ferrari along side Remo. His brother Nino who I have worked for once in 1999/2000 runs Remo's BMW arm. I would say Remo is tough but I got along great with him, he never wanted me to leave but I did, I regreted it BIG time because I thought I was going somewhere better *Cough DownTown Fine Cars Cough* and it turned out to be a ****ty hell hole.

Remo has that hard headed European attitude that is hard to get along with and understand. I did but I guess I was one of the lucky few and didnt really have to deal to much with him directly.

P.S Well there was that one time Remo was on my cae. Portugal lost in the Euro Cup 2000 and I had to put up with Remo making fun of me. (Vasco!? Whatta happen to a Portugalo, theyah lose-a da game....they are-a out of the cup Vasco. I no understand)

Damn that guy.....I hope Italy loses BIG time this year LOLLL

Viva Portugal - All the best for the EuroCup 2004 .....Wish I was going during that time!

I can tell you, as a former customer, that their customer service and attentiveness to non-celebrity customers is not good. Good luck getting treated as you would expect for paying $250K+ for a car. I was very disappointed.

Sorry, but remo is an ******* and so are the majority of the cronies that work for him. (I hope FoO is listening). If the boss is a complete jerkoff, sooner or later it will trickle down the chain to the employees. Story time: I live in Calgary and was in Toronto for some family business and decided to stop by their shop to check out a 456 they had in stock (and would have purchased, btw) but was flat out ignored by everyone in sight. (The sales team would rather have a laugh with eachother than sell a car, nice!!) When I asked if one of them could show me the car, the guy snorted back, Maybe in a couple of years, and walked off. I walked out and later purchased a stellar 550 from a pal out west here and couldn't be happier.

I would rather drive off a cliff than purchase even a 5.00 set of stickers from those dudes.

    Stay away!!

My son and I were in last summer ('03) and were met by a salesman (can't remember his name) but he had just joined from a BMW dealership. He was very nice to us. Walked us around the cars and chatted. No attitude at all (we were pretty casual in jeans and boots, etc.). Heard stories about the owner but this guy was very pleasant.

There is only 1 Official Ferrari dealer for each market. Toronto had two dealers for a while. That did not last; when Gentry Lane was taken off the list he became the only game in town. FNA seems to like Remo's act as each dealer's performance is "reviewed" every year. He has been around Ferrari for more than 35 years. Other "things" happened to and he is still running the show the way he wants it done. You can't please everybody and it will always be a seller's Ferrari market. "NEXT" !!!

There is a real significant reason why his ties to FNA are the way they are but rather not say. But i guess it is true, I was treated decent by him but again...........I was really not around him much.

Anyways, it was my two cents.

Wish I knew....I was going there when Larry was around..I agree, he was great !! I had told him I was yrs away from owing but I would buy from him.Unforunately, when I was ready, he was no longer there. All in all, I have talked to service guys and Fadi the parts guy. They are all o.k. I would have to agree, if your not a movie star, athlete, you are looked upon a little less. Which is a bit of a shame. As for the new sales reps...not up to the par of Larry. As for the pricing, I would have to agree, tried to buy some parts and do the work myself and in some cases better to buy from U.S dealerships.

I've never met Remo Ferri, but having been in the business this long I have never heard anyone say anything good about him or the place in general. I know 3 ex-employees of the company who have told me in confidence what they thought of him and what has been stated here reflects their comments accurately.

    FWIW......

Hey buddy yourself!!!! First off, considering your subtle attack on Bugati Autos in the "Mechanics in Montreal" thread, you also took the liberty of badbouthing someone without thinking, or specifics. I would hardly think that "I've heard bad stuff about them" would warrant badmouthing.

I've seen it first hand how at one time, Luigi was making someone follow him around in the shop, begging to buy a car....and the customer already had one. I also know first hand that his long-time (and now retired) mechanic is somewhat bitter about his years spent at Luigi's. I (as well as my wife) have been the target of Luigi's wrath. And most of the times, his attacks wouldn't limit themselves to my car, but got personal and outright mean and insulting. And on one occassion, he decided to carry out his attack in front of another customer/club member. As far as other specifics, I'm going to stop right here. There is just too much.

I'm not debating the quality of his service, I know that it's top notch...when he decides that he'll work on your car. There have been moments when I would show up at the shop, and he's been warm and inviting. And sometimes he would even show me how to carry out certain repairs/adjustments myself, so that I wouldn't have to come all the way to his shop to fix it. He's often praised my wife regarding her career and life choices. You could say (like many others probably would) that my rapport with Luigi is love/hate. Sometimes, too much of the latter.

You can't say that I'm badmouthing Luigi, but rather calling a spade, a spade. And finally, I've had the better part of 20 years (be it directly or indirectly), to formulate my thoughts, opinions and feelings about Luigi. Believe me, before I post..I think!!!

    Cheers!

I think you are misreading Bernardo66's comment. It doesn't sound like he his bad mouthing Luigi at all. He is simply comparing the similarities between the owners of the two dealerships, and by the way, his statement confirms what most Montreal Ferrari owners already know and think of Mr. Luigi. No one will doubt his capabilities as a mechanic, but his PERSONA. well that's a different topic. Until a few years back, before Ferrari of Quebec opened for business, you could have begged him until you turned blue, if he didn't like you, for whatever reason???? there was no way he would sell you an F-car. Your choices were, John Scotti Automobile, Gentry Lane, Maranello Motors or The U.S.
That's why there is a **** load U.S. F-Cars in Montreal, my 1988 328GTS was a U.S. Car. I didn't have much choice, Luigi would not sell to me and two other friends. Imagine that, he let 3 sales (2 328GTS AND 1 TESTAROSSA) in one day, just walk out the door. We all bought our cars elsewhere. Then you here all the excuses why Ferrari did not renew his dealership contract. I think the reason is obvious.

    Like Bernardo66 said, it's a love/hate affair with his cronies, AND THAT'S A FACT.

I personally don't love or hate him, I just don't agree with his politics.

The reason why ferrari didnt renew his contract was because Stroll, owner of ferrari quebec (sorry for the spelling) bought it off... Luigi was offered a buy out and he refused ( due to his caracter which ur all right about he a is a tough guy he likes or hates you).... he would rather give it all away then take millions and work for someone else.... tells u alot about his carracter and persona... some say he was stupid some say he was smart.. we all have are opinions... but in all Luigi to me is a great guy (dont forget he has his good and bad days) ... just to hear the story of his life and his relationship with ferrari to me is out of this world...

If any of you woudl like to talk about events they have had with luigi i woudl be more then glad to hear them... could be bad or good...

By the way I personally dont have nothing against Ferrari Quebec or Auto Bugati just want to clear that out.... what i said abotu Bugati in the past i took back and i regret sayin it ( i learn that u should never talk about someone if u havent had any problems with him or about somethign u heard about someone else....)

Like I said, not to repeat myself, I don't dislike him, I just don't agree with his politics and prejudice on people wanting to acquire an F-Car. It's too bad that people like myself and many many others were not given the opportunity the deal with the dealership. We were labeled as non-Luigi cars, therefore according to some, our cars did not carry the same prestige as a Luigi car. This was ludicris, and to add insult to injury, those non-Luigi F-Car owners that wanted to join the ferrari club of quebec, now known as The Luigi Car Club of Quebec (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) were denied membership because they are non-Luigi Cars. Basically the door is closed for potential members. At this rate with other clubs out there, how long will the club last?
If given the opportunity to join the club, I would consider it. But from my understanding it is almost impossible.

You know why.. right... because you knew when u got ur car serviced by Luigi u had a car serviced from a A+ Guy (not tryin to insult anyone...or say anythign bad about ur car) Lets not involve his persona in this thing... were not all perfect...

If you go in Luigi's office today u see a sign sent to him by Ferrari Maranello (years back when he was the official quebec dealer) as North America's best ferrari dealership with no complains, no returns, no recalls on parts, etc... i dont remember the exact terms ill take a pic next time i go...

Oh by the way his new garage is awsome.. at such an age he didnt have to build a new garage and keep servicing Ferraris... he has pride and love for Ferrari and will take it to his grave...

Anyways "512tr" u shoudl try to contact Frank or Marc about the membership...
