Made a chicken stir fry with bell peppers and onion and some roasted red potatoes with rosemary from the garden here. The chicken is marinated in a “spanish paella” dry spice mix we found here, so it picked up the color of saffron and paprika I guess.

...the circle of red potato wedges was Ania’s idea of fancy plating :)

Nothing special, left over spaghetti and meatballs last night. Did Kirkland top sirloin hamburger patties tonight.

Looks nice and rich that sauce. What did you do to fancy it up? It's been too long since I whipped up a batch of zoodles.

We've been enjoying our dinner with this the last few nights.

    <<<<<<<<<< So not tech savvy.

I shot an armadillo in my back yard last night. I snapped a pic with my flip phone but can't send it to email to download and post here.... Thought it would be funny.

Marrakech now...had some mediocre (at best) food so far, so haven’t bothered with many pics...

tonight was tajines; one chicken with olives and one lamb meatballs in tomato sauce and an egg. At this point, I’m pretty sure “tajine” means “very dry” in the local language o_O

The food here has been (on my two trips at least) a big “meh” (at best) and certainly over-regarded coming in...you know how in some countries you can get something great on every corner? Like pasta in Italy, or a jamon and queso sandwhich in spain, or a grilled sausage in any Eastern European country? Well, Morocco has no such rule...

anyways, I’ll post a few meals from here in coming days (I hope they are at least share worthy)...

If it doesn’t work just bail. Spend a few days in Rome then back to merry old England.

No beans. Served with pasta. The onions were fantastic.

Nice scenery. Where is that? A tad icy looking for this thin-blooded Texan transplant.

Chicken soup. They claim wintry mix is on the way, so warm chicken soup fits the bill. Celery, onions, tomato, garlic, chicken broth, chicken, brown rice. Simmer.

Ok, big step up food wise today. Took a car and guide into the so-called “High Atlas” mountains (place where we ate pictured here was 6200 feet and the highest peaks pictures are 13,600 feet, so pretty much the same as where we are in Wyoming).

this food stop is pre-arranged at a local Berber family’s house. But I think they send in a cook from a local cooking school. The food was fantastic and the setting and view is hard to top.

    We had:

    - Chicken tajine (that’s more like it! Cooked slowly over charcoal, this was tender and moist and very flavorful, with potatoes and other veggies in the tajine pot)

    - Cous Cous with veggies, including some very good soft pumpkin.

    - A salad of of fresh tomatoes and cilantro and sweet mild onion grown onsite was way better than the sum of the simple ingredients.

    - The bread cooked in a clay hole tandoor style was made from barley and tasted unlike any bread we have had before.

    - Local oranges from down in the valley finished a great meal on a fantastic day-long tour.
