Looked at the photos again because something seemed off and figured it out: the shift knob should be black plastic and elongated with slight pistol grip indentations. The wrecked car has a round walnut shift knob that is NOT original.

Obviously this car would need lots of time and $$$$, but I have to laugh about the comment that it's "missing (some) tools"...reminds of that famous line in "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid" where they're standing on the edge of the cliff looking down into a lake and Paul Newman suggests jumping and Sundance says "I can't swim". Missing tools in this vignette is equivalent to Redford's inability to swim. steve

Hard to believe they are asking $395K. Now this car will need some restoration.

Apparently the buyer wants to make his money on the front end and let the restorer put in the time and money and risk. If he pays the asking price, he'll need to get $800-1MM at auction a year or two from now. Maybe it'll be on Chasing Classic Cars with Wayne Carini. I could do a cameo. :D

I have seen some "projects" but this one seems to
be a bit over the top.

    Lots of work needed here

Can someone please explain to me why this car, restored should command such a price when the March 2013 RM Amelia Island auction had this beauty go for just a shade over $0.5 million with the Borranis, not Campys and had refreshed paint and interior even after the catalog photos:

It shouldn't and the ask price in obnoxious! I reached out to the dealer and told him that I was the under bidder and know what they have in the car. I told them I would pay them $25K over their cost or about $250K. They said no thanks. I guess the owner wants to turn around and double his money on that rat...

The Bonhams sale of a perfect 330 GTC at $730K should give him pause. Maybe he'll get reasonable now.
