I lived in Chicago and briefly owned this 330GTC in British Racing Green/Tan. I bought it for $7500 (!!) in 1976 and sold it a year later for $10K to Joe Marchetti when I was changing jobs and needed cash in my pocket. Any one know where it may be now?

The front end is twisted like a twizzler....

I would guess that it would take 3 years plus 300K to bring it back to acceptable condition.

Just think! Front frame is not only shifted towards the passenger, its also twisted.
This require major creative work, then sourcing the parts... That's always fun.

What a shame, it's a beautiful car done. I bet when it was wrecked the owner couldn't afford to fix.

*sniff* What a shame. I owned the car from 1975-1978 and sold it to restauranteur and Ferrari enthusiast Joe Marchetti, owner of the Como Inn in Chicago, for $10,000. Car was pristine when it left my hands. A beautiful and well-balanced all around GT, but it lacked the visceral excitement I was looking for at the time (wanted, but couldn't swing for a 275 GTB).

By the way, the seats were tan when I had the car and now appear to have been redyed black.

Anyone know whereabout he is marketing it. Don't really know where to start looking in the US.

I am interested as I am looking for a 330 or 365 GTC and also a project to get my restorers teeth into.

What a shame, I shutter to think what it will cost to put the car right.

I can't believe the bidding is as high as it is already. Assuming that it will take $100,000 to make it right, that would be a quarter of a million invested in a car that isn't worth that in the market with a much better history, is it?

You might want to check some recent GTC auction reports... There's a bit of GTC-flavoured bubblegum going around!

The car that sold for $418 had the Borrani Rudge wires and mine had the Campagnolo solid wheels. As far as the cheaper ones, the first one highlighted is a 330GT 2+2; the second one indicated a sale at $275K. I guess they have gone up a bit, but I think my $100K estimate to restore it is on the low side.

from the photos this car looks to be rotten with damp, i fear it will need a lot more than chassis work and a front body clip!

It does appear to have been stored in a very damp environment, look at the mold on the back of the driver seat, it was probably stored indoors but maybe in a mushroom cave? look at the pimples on the vinyl covering the console around the radio, that's the aluminum panel turning to white powder underneath. What happened to the steering wheel wood? I guess it rotted away releasing it's stored carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and contributing to the warming. Whoever takes that car apart for restoration will need much patients and even more loosy juice.....Ok I'm in!

The upside of today's market is that it will be brought back.

Given the rust and apparent frame/body damage, I believe one could easily spend $200K to correct the mechanical and cosmetic problems on the car.
The car looks like it sat in barn with no roof on it..... or out in the rain.
Still, GTC's continue to reach new highs every time one comes up for sale. A brave enthusiast will be required to take on this project.... assuming somebody doesn't do a half a$$ fix and flip it.

I can see $200 - 300K to put the car right. If someone pays $200K for the car, the new owner will have a lot invested.

Say $600k for a nice one, less 20% ($120k) discount for damage history, less $300k for repair / restoration leaves about $180k. It's up to $137k now. Seems reasonable to me.

Is there even a discount for damage history on one of these cars, at this point?

Assuming it was properly restored, I'd guess not. Furthermore, the bulk of the cost, time, and effort to restore it is going to go to fixing the damage from the storage, rather than the accident damage.
