I have an Armada, which is what the QX is based on. Not bad, but thirsty...good thing is, it's a truck (Titan) and it's fairly rugged.

Money an object, get the Infiniti. Money no object, get the Lexus.

buy the unibody, not the body on truck chassis.

I would probably choose the GL450 TT, excuse me Bi-Turbo, just so I could install a EBC for an extra 100hp. Seriously though I would have to drive each one for a day to see which fit me and my needs the best.

The Q is the biggest, most truck like. The G will probably be the sportiest. Hard to believe the Mercedes is the cheapest in that line up. What a loaded out Armada run?

My 2008 GL has been a nightmare, and is regularly in for service to get things fixed. The latest was an out-of-warranty power steering failure of multiple componentry, resulting in $3500 in parts. Since it had failed previously under warranty, we negotiated a lesser number. A friend of mine had his power steering unit replaced as well, so there's clearly something going on there.

All we're doing to it is using it to steer, but I guess that's too much to ask these days.

My wife went with a GL350 Bluetec instead of the more expensive GL450 and are glad we did. It gets low 20s mpg around town and high 20s to low 30s mpg on the highway. The torque is amazing. And there is no diesel noise or smell. It has been very reliable with the only problem being a chattering cam chain at 60k miles, which was fixed under warranty. An extra plus is the GL350 is less expensive than the GL450 new, but retains its value so much better that used GL350s sell for more than used GL450s. As I have owned numerous German cars over the years, I did buy a 100k mile MB extended bumper-to-bumper warranty, just in case.

of the list given I'd take the Lexus, but I think the diesel GL is probably the best overall choice in that segment.

wise move on the extended warranty ;)

If you need the space get the Infinity. If you need the most luxury get the Lexus.

I just bought an Armada last week and I love it. Perfect for trips to Vegas or San Diego. Not luxurious like the Lexus but still very comfortable.

out of those three... the LX / landcruiser (SP?) by a mile.....

dont know about the new model but they have a strong rep for super reliability in the 100ks mileage and strong resale value

The lexus seems to hold its value the best as well

same i'm not planning on doing any hard driving most long distance stuff

I've heard the nightmare stories which is making it fall to the bottom of the list..

I actually think the lexus has the least amount of luxury compared to the others in person...

I'm thinking to go that route as well their very well priced right now. What options/packages are a must?

    Land Cruiser hands down.

I would also consider the Lexus GX.

We have the GL350's smaller brother the ML350 Blutec. Very good vehicle (maintenance is expensive though). GL350 Blutec would be a great alternative if you needed more space.

14 mpg around town gets very old fast.

Our ML can do over 700 miles on a tank.

go the infiniti route. The Lexus is overpriced for what it is - which is why the new model is farrr less popular than previous ones; the GL isn't really big enough for a big SUV and the previous one was plagued by reliability issues. I had an original 2003 infiniti FX35 for more than 225,000 trouble free miles so I'm a bit biased, but they really put together a great, reliable product. Maybe Infiniti is a little of this and a little of than and doesn't do anything exceptionally well, but all the bits and pieces add up to a great, reliable vehicle.

My wife's GL350 has been relatively inexpensive to maintain, a few hundred bucks ever 10,000 miles. And the mileage is great...we get 700 miles+ to a tank of diesel at 29-31mpg on the interstate at 70mph and low 20s around town.

The GL has a lot more interior room than the new QX56

Perhaps the new GL does, but I'd don't think the old one did. Certainly never felt that way to me at least.
