I don't think TRXes came until the 1981-ish Series II cars......79 should still have the 15 inchers on it....

Nope, all '79's came with 15" wheels and XWX, IIRC.

I'm pretty sure 415mm TRX's started with injection in 1980, about the time of the introduction of the Mondial 8 before the 308i's.

A very rare option and fact unknown by most 400 owners is some 1984 cars have 15" wheels also.
The owners of '84 cars who have the "special" 15" wheel option are known to be very smart by beating the TRX problem and being able to drive with modern technology correct speed rated tires with much better rubber compounds than the old TRX's. I've also been told they are quite handsome, great lovers, tell rib splitting jokes, amongst other great attributes.

    :D :D

Fantastic looking car you have there Dave..:) Great colour combo. However, with regards to your post above I believe you've got a typo ... The wheels/tyre combo in your piccies look like they're 16" rather than 15" hoops..;)

Huh? I must be missing the humor. The wheels on my '84 400i are 15"

I've got to say that I don't like the look of the 15" at all. I understand the advantage though....but the TRX wheels just have "the look". I'd probably go with 16 QV wheels or something.

But ****, gotta get a car first eh? :) Lots of talk, no action on my part. *sigh*
