My Grand Lange 1 is one month old today. It has been in freezing weather, hot weather, low altitude, high altitude (flying), and it has not lost its accuracy. Not even one second as far as I can see. Amazing.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more FChatters wearing their Rolex Daytona.

IMO, that's a function of luck.

I've had quartz Swatches but never a mech one...maybe they do keep exceptional time for an inexpensive watch.

I have a "CTI" automatic mechanical watch that I bought off ebay a year ago for about $50 including S&H. It has small dials for day, date, and seconds, and is very stylish...large, black face with white aviation/military type markings, retail price tag in the box is $250. Problem is, it loses a minute to two minutes a day if not wound up tight by hand every day, but I wear often it because it looks good and if lost or broken, no big deal.

In 1991, I bought a near-new all-steel Rolex Oyster Datejust automatic. It's never been serviced, and it keeps as good time as any of the several quartz "driver" watches I have laying around.

I do think you get what you pay for in the watch area.

Rijk, I've been to the L&S website and looked on ebay some since your earlier posts about getting the watch...when I bought the Rolex it was supposed to be my big lifetime watch purchase, and it is indeed a great watch. However, after seeing yours, researching some, and now your latest comments, I'm rethinking.

Problem is, I don't have any justifiable reason left to wear an expensive watch. I guess it's like a Ferrari, there for the essence of its own existence.

I'm wearing my Pam 90 right now as well...love this watch; barely wear any of my others.

I have the opportunity to get a Rolex Daytona at retail. ($7900)

I have always loved the Daytona and I think I might jump on this opportunity. The only catch, the watch MUST be delivered with my initials engraved into the back of the case. This is done to prevent me from flipping it.

Anyway, does anyone know how easily the case back can be replaced? Are they available?

    What about the hologram?

Might take a little longer but someone will probably buy it anyway.......

The hologram is just a sticker. I don't have it on my GMT either. I really don't want to sell it right away, but I was thinking I might want to one day...

Congrats! I am a Lange Junkie.

I have daily worn my 1815 for over 5 years now and am debating getting another 1815 (in Plat/maybe an auto) or a Lange1 (Has to have white dial Blue Hands, so probably the LE WG).

    Best,
    dsd

Thanks to Chris at Valencia Time Center, I wear the new "Citizen Eco-Drive Skyhawk AT" today! Still unavailable here in Europe to the best of my knowledge!!
These wonderful guys at Valencia Time Center provides THE very best service in the bussines, and I will simply have to recommend them to anyone who needs a new watch, or need service for their old watches!

I just can't get into the AP for some reason. I have seen so many and they all look so bulky and ugly IMO. But that is just my opinion.

    dsd,

Don't you think the Lange1 is a little on the small side? I put the Grand Lange and the Lange1 next to each other and the Grand Lange looks decidedly more modern.

It is, I just bought mine a few weeks back. It comes with a dvd instruction manual, lol

My wife bought me a kick ass carbon fiber watch case for Valentines day. I can't remember the name, I'll post a picture if anyone cares.

the grand Lange is more modern but I love
the size of my 1815 (36mm).

In fact, they discontinued the 1815 in favor of
larger cases. The 1815 movement is now in the
    larger saxonia.

I think modern watches tend to be too big

I'm poor and practical (something slightly nuts about multi thousand dollar watches..) I only one one at the moment maybe more later I wear it almost every day and did so today-my invicta 8926 (a tribute to the submariner if you will) set me back 70 bucks shipped. Works great and I get compliments all the time, very happy with it
