Cheeky chop!! Thanks for sharing, nice watch. You certainly live the good life mate!! Happy New Year!! Both very nice watches!!
Any love someone for this limited edition of only 100 reissue? It's big, it's thick, it's heavy and I like its space-age look. Happy New Year to all of you! Image Unavailable, Please Login
you know what I love about AP? all the screw heads are always perfectly aligned. small details matter.
The dial is machined or counter sunk for the shape of head of the screw. The screws must be dropped in and secured from the back side?
Yes, that is correct, and also why they can get the screw heads perfectly aligned on the front side of the watch.
thanks for that technical info! it makes a big difference. look at the screw heads on this Bell &Ross. sloppy. and while not an AP it's not a cheap watch. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looking at acquiring this IWC Perpetual Calendar for my next watch. 45mm What do you guys think? Any equivalent alternatives I should consider? Image Unavailable, Please Login
IWC is good. The downside is their service is absolutely terrible. Everyone (myself included) that owned IWC all had terrible service when sent in...at least in US. Not sure what your price point is, but with nice discount AL&S, Patek (used), JLC and few others. If you go IWC route, you should be able to get 30-40% off if you hunt.
JLC has some nice perpetuals at same or lower price point. Iirc the iwc has 7 day power reserve, which is pretty impressive in such a complicated watch. (I think the JLC is 2-4 days iirc). They both make them in several different metals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I might suggest the JLC perpetual. Better motor and better service. Also it's great value for money. I have been considering the stainless steel JLC perpetual. Just because it's so unique. Also amazing you can own a quality perpetual for under $20k. Just saw one listed new at $17.8k. https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/jaegerlecoultre-master-ultra-thin-perpetual-calendar If you have a slightly larger budget you can not beat the Patek 3940. I owned a 3940p for awhile and loved it. It's small but today's standards at 36mm. But it oozes class and elegance. Fratello?s Top 5 Vintage Patek Philippe Watches ? true but to me, this is a much more elegant solution than the odd indexing of the screws on any hublot...such a distraction for me.
45mm seems a bit large for a dress watch. As others mentioned JLC has best bang for the buck regarding perpetuals, some close to $20k. Of course, can't go wrong with any of the Big 3 at a higher price point. Sent from my 16M
Quite heavy and looks cool. Polished with Dremmel polishing pads and polishing compound. Image Unavailable, Please Login
