Hello, I am currently looking to buy 812 Superfast and would love to hear what to look for when buying one. Any hidden issues I should be wary about? I am 6,5 and 290 pounds, should I go for normal or racing seats?
I've heard corrosion around the rear grilles can be an issue, a problem that first cropped up on the F12 but was never fixed by Ferrari. Check to see if it is there and ask if that area has been repainted (what Ferrari does if the issue appears during initial warranty period). I would recommend sitting in both seats in the showroom before making this decision, or ideally test driving a car with both seats (sounds overkill just for seats but IMHO it is not). The qualities you should evaluate are 1) Aesthetics (2) Comfort/fit of the seat (3) Suspension feel while driving (up/down and side to side). It's a subjective decision so I'd recommend trying it out for yourself.
I’m 6’6” 255lbs…you will need racing seats. If you are going 812 SF, and not GTS, I would opt for a pre-GPF model.
Yes…but there’s a picture that has been posted multiple times that details what the GPF equipped vehicle looks like under the hood. Maybe run a search to find it?
I'm 6'5" but 225lbs. I fit in both seats but the race seats do get your knees down away from steering wheel and depends on how your built race seats will give you a touch more head room. The race seats in my F8 are more comfortable and supporting than the electric seats I had in my 488 and all these seats between these cars are the same.
Something I'll point out about being tall as I am also. When you have a car that your legs will not freely go under the steering wheel you are at a much higher risk of getting compound fractures in a T-bone accident. I had a horrific near miss by inches a few years ago from someone who ran a stop sign. It spooked me for months. One thing I don't like about Ferrari (only talking about 488/F8) is they only have four airbags (total). My GT3RS had eight, 2 each (front, knee, side airbags (protects thorax) and side curtain airbags (protects, head/upper chest). My Huracan EVO in which this incident happened had six. It didn't have the side curtain which is located on the A pillar. Ferrari has two front (steering and passenger dash) and two side airbags in the door panel for (thorax). So there is no knee and head/upper chest protection. I looked into all of this after said incident.
If you are looking for a 2020 and newer one just got posted with a lot of novitec options https://www.houstonautoworld.com/vdp/21467911/Used-2020-Ferrari-812-Superfast-66K-IN-NOVITEC-OPTIONS-for-sale-in-Houston-TX-77063
Thank you all for the info and the advice. I've bought a 2021 812 SF in Grigio Silverstone color and I've order a whole carbon set from SForza, which made the most sense as I am from EU. Love the car and great quality from SForza, even got a discount as they are sponsors of this forum. 1. Do I need to connect battery conditioner every time I park it for overnight? Even if I am going to drive it the next day? 2. My brakes on the left side have a weird noise when driving which is strange considering that the car has only done 4500 km. Could it be because the car was not driven for months while at the car dealership or are there any common issues with brakes? I'll post the pics next week, it was fully detailed and handed over for PPF, and then aero carbon parts are going to get fitted.
No you don't need to plug in all the time. I only do when its left for a while - or if its been used a lot over a few days. For some reason (And i may be imagining it) after a lot of small journeys when you hit start it sounds like its only just going to start - whereas after its been back on the charger it seems to fire up easier. I had a weird clicking sound on the right side for a week and then it disappeared. You do get used to a few weird behaviours after a while- like sometimes the fob just wont open the car and you spend a few mins standing around clicking until it opens!
I plug it in after my drives once the car has cooled down. This car has an incredible parasitic draw of electrical current. Better safe.
Starting it is not the problem. My Pista was left off the tender during an extended service visit at the dealer. It started fine, and drove great until it popped the dreaded “Engine Control System Failure Go To Dealer” engine code. It was later determined to be a problematic battery. Sounds like it could be a more serious issue than just the battery Cadster. I’ll do you a favor and take that lemon off your hands. You need some garage space anyway for your purchases in 2025. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
