I came across this picture and the only clue I have to the car's identity is the Bugatti crests on the centre of the wheels. Can anyone name it so I can go look for pictures of it from other angles?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I believe it's the Type 105, designed by Nikita Bridan, an attempt made in 1984 to get the company up and running once more with a singular lack of success. We had to wait for the 110 to see the company on the move again.

Wow......very interesting! Thanks for the pics. I've never seen or heard of this model before. Definitely a weird front end. Probably would be an "acquired taste" type thing to end up liking it. Would be cool to see one in person though!

Not very pretty IMHO, but interesting nonetheless.

Kinda like the Aston Martin "Bulldog" that never made it to production either.

Very attractive paint and wheels, lights are okay, almost seem to remind me of 2013 mustangs.

    Let me clear things up:

    1. There is not and never was a Bugatti Type 105 project. This is an imagined back story created by Nikita Bridan, a young student at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. Bridan is far too young to have been involved in any project circa 1984 and these types of digital renderings weren't even possible back then. Briden jokingly refers to these images as "lost photographs" on his blog and provides the imagined backstory.

    2. The car shown in this thread doesn't actually exist. It's a digital rendering by Bridan that he has labeled on different occasions as either "Bugatti Type 105" or "Bugatti Type 109."

    3. Bridan has done other renderings that he has also labeled "Bugatti Type 105" or "Bugatti Type 105 aerodynamique." Some of those are below. Notice that none of these show the same design.

    LOL! Once again, reality intrudes........

And yes, I think it's fugly too...I'm sure Nikita has some better designs on his flashdrive somewhere!

In that first image, the text suddenly talks about Ferrari in an article about Bugatti. A word the photo-shopping missed?

Also, I'm curious to know, has Bugatti done anything to officially refute the rumours of Bridan? It seems odd that they'd let him get away with making things up about them.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Yeah, he used an old Goodyear ad that originally featured the 308 GTB QV:

He's just a kid playing around on his blog. I doubt they take it seriously at all.

Alas, the image of Ricardo Montalban was photoshopped as well!

It seems to have some talent for design - perhaps he should have represented the images honestly rather than create a fake backstory. I found these links on his site:

    Search: http://nikitabridan.blogspot.co.uk/search?q=Bugatti

Claim that rumours discredit Bugatti's history: http://nikitabridan.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/truth-of-jean-bugatti.html

Nikita Bridan's book on Bugatti's history for sale: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/2995317

I wonder if he perpetuates the 105/109 myth in the book he's selling or if that's an accurate account of Bugatti's history.

It's a bit of a shame about the dishonesty in the story surrounding the renderings - they're actually quite interesting in their own right.

    All the best,
    Andrew.
