Any one know what engine oil Ferrari dealers are using for 328?
but the DEALERS are required to use Helix 5w40 and Helix 60w in the Enzo and other newer racing cars.
Oh no...this has the potential to get very long...so remember what the OP asked - what dealers were using, NOT what individuals or their mechanics were using.
I thought I read somewhere that AGIP is no longer available in the US. Could be mistaken, but that's rattling around in my old brain cells.
You might be right. It certainly could have been New Old Stock or even a 1/2 empty barrel. I just remember seeing their logo on a barrel next to the Shell stuff.
Or if they ask their dealer to use something of the customer's choice. Some dealers will; some won't.
The web site is still up: Agip Sint 2000 10W-40 [Agip Synthetic Blend motor oil] - $65.00 : American AGIP, an ENI Company I have heard that the american agip isn't the same stuff as in europe.
some aircooled 911 guys with a need for zddp are running Mobil 1 VTwin 20/50. You gents may want to consider that if you want to run a thicker oil.
AGIP is still available and you can get it at most motorcycle shops. The thing with AGIP is that it's official name is ENI now, they just keep the AGIP moniker for marketing purposes.
I wasn't happy with the cold start-up running of the car using Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W50 (very sluggish and lumpy. Even when it was relatively warm outside. I guess the 20W was just a little too heavy). I switched to Motul 10W50 "5100 4T" and it idles much better now (and is the same weight rating as the original spec oil).
Good question! In all seriousness, I wonder what the answer to that is. It does seem like many 308/328 owners are DIY types. -F
I purchased a UFI filter. Am changing oil this weekend. Been reading alot about this valoline VR1, I thinking 20 W 50 may be too heavy. Will see what other weights available.
Same here. In my former '78 308 and in the '84 Mondial QV, I ran Castrol GTX 20W-50, and they ran great. This is one of those "to each, his own" threads. More opinions on alternatives than there are members of this website.
20w/50 stays in grade and keeps oil pressure even in extreme circumstances. 348 onwards we use fully synthetic oil. T.
