Hello, Did you ask for a color card from maserati (Collina) ? You also may ask Marcello Candini, he was responsible for restoring the Ghibli spyder. I am interested in details of the samples of leather from your fotos. I would like to know where did you get these samples ? I wanted to send a PM, but you did not allow to receive PM's. I would like to aks you to send me an email to my private address: [email protected] to get in contact with you. Thank you - best regards Alfred
Hello. My Ghibli was originally supplied in verde gemma. It is the colour of all the first 4 ghiblis in your post. I visited the Maserati exhibition at casa Enzo Ferrari last month and there was a Maserati 3500 In the same. Like many metallics, it changes colour under different lighting. This picture most accurately reflects how it is in daylight, it is really quite light and 'mellow'. If you like, I can try and scrape off a bit of the old paint as a sample and send it to you. Just PM if that helps. Cheers. Mark. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the sentiment Julian! I am envious of your rapid bodywork reconstruction! Actually, I am not totally in love with the colour. I am rather like Thomas (Golden Eagle) in tending to prefer more conservative colours like his Volpe Argentata or Grigio Newmarket. That said, I have not seen a Ghibli painted in Verde Gemma 'in the wild'...I am sure it would be eye catching. I was slightly disappointed in a way that there were virtually no cars post 1970 in the Maserati 100 exhibit in Modena. No Ghibli, Khamsin or Bora et al. But the Auriana V4 was consolation, as were the Maserati hydroplane next to the Ferrari powered Arno XI. I am lucky to return on the 18th, so hopefully will manage to spot a Ghibli in Verde Gemma and get a better idea of how the colour looks for real. I'll be sure to take some pictures at any rate. All the best. Mark.
