I would like to know your experience. I already asked in other threat, but seems to me it deserve own thread to get more opinions.I used Shell V power racing with Octane number 100 or Blue Octane with Octane number 99. However Ferrari dealer informed me (and its also in instr.book) that i should use fuel with octane number 95. So putted 95 but i felt realy visible accelaration decrease. Especially Shell promote its V Power fuel together with Ferrari so i am surprised its finally not recommended. What kind of fuel do you use in terms of octane number ? Frankly speaking i was disapointed by using 95 in terms of accelartion but do not want to damage car.....Thx Petr

V-power 98 octane is best, the 100 here in AUS is no good because of the 5% ethanol.

A very interested, clever and nice official service manager told me that 100 octans are not pure, they upgrade it from 95 to 97 than to 100.
So in the long run as you can not burn the additives enough the 100 octane can cause some problems.

He advised me to use 95 as it is the purest.
He told me that there will be a slight decrease in power but it will be like 3-4% so i wont feel it. 15hp decrease in 400, i guess he is right.

I am more concerned from the safety of my engine than feeleing the same speed on 5500rpm with 100 octane instead of 6000rpm with 95..
As i almost always drive with sport mode off, when i want some thrill i put it in sport mode and do not feel the decrease at all.

    Your choice tho..

    cheers.

ps: if you can get a hold of it, i guess in every 3k miles if you fill your tank with 30% race gas and 70% 95, you will feel the difference afterwords.
Ofcourse you will feel a huge decrease when you fill her up next due to lack of race gas, but the engine will be totally refereshed, its like, nothing beets a full breath of fresh air from the alps..

In Europe 95 Octane is recommended in the F 360 Manual.

Maybe 98 is good compromise. I felt the strong decrease when i putted full tank of 95 right after using 100. I just went home few miles from gas station (without feeling anything) and second day i was totally surprised where is my power.....So same day afternoon after some driving, i putted again the 100. Maybe i should be more patient and give to 95 more time. Currently i use 99 from local distributor but not sure if its ok.

But just simple comparison (maybe i am totally wrong). 15HP seems to me more than enough. If i put 95 fuel and take some of my friends as second passenger (some guy who has about 80kg) it should be almost same difference (from 100 and single driving) as between normal 360 and CS ?!

I had to use 95 in my 360 once as the 98 pump was out and the car did not like it. It pinked under acceleration and generally ran erratically. Two tankfulls of Shell V-Power later and the car runs fine. I wouldn't recommend 95 going on my experience.

Max, i was surprised same like you. When i bought 360, I automatically started to use V Power Racing from Shell (100) or Blue Octane from Benzina (99) but local Ferrari dealer recommended me to use 95 (i had problems with Check Engine light coming on) and its also in instr.book. But as i described above, i did not follow this advice and maybe its realy bad idea.....
What are you using ? BTW when we make the meeting :) ?

Peter, PM if you like. Anytime you are in Prague let me know and we can go through the Strachov tunnel in 2nd gear :) IN fact I was out past Plzen this weekend, so I could have stopped in.

Anyway, this 95 thing is totally weird. I thought 98 is cleaner fuel for your engine.

Max, lets keep in touch. I am in Prague (part Stodulky) every day (except weekends) but with 360 only 1-2 days max per week and only if i have "easy" day in work and there is nice weather. It would be great to make common meeting, rides, etc. I have this experience from past 7 years ago when i owned 300zx and i had 4 another friends with same car - it was great.

Anyway regarding this fuel issue, i will try to switch to 98 which realy seems to me as good compromise.

I knew that V-Power 100 Octanes and Agip BlueSuper 98 Octanes (here in Italy) are far better than 95 octanes standard fuel,'cause they have also cleaning additives.

Are these additives bad or good for a F-engine?

Note that US Octane numbers average RON and MON...
so, those European octane numbers will be higher than US octane numbers.

The manual recommends 95 and that is what the ECU is calibrated for. Running a higher octane number is of no benefit.

As I posted earlier, in Europe it's definitely 95 octane, because as M3Mike put it, the ECU's are set for that fuel, and anything is a waste of money and possibly damaging over a long period of usage.

The Porsches are electronically capable of adapting their settings to different fuels.

Yes, I remember reading about that in my Porsche manual, something like the"knocking" changes if you put in 98 or 95. I have been tanking up with 98, so I will fill up with 95 next time. Still find it weird though :)
