I would like to work at my local Ferrari dealer. maybe cleaning cars, after they are repaired. Can a 16 year old be a salesmen (just a thought, if they know ALOT about the cars in the Showroom, well for a teenager.) I just love Ferrari's and would love to have a job that is one of my passions. Just a thought.

    Go ask.
Be aware that they probably get lots of these requests from young adults so the answer will probably be no.
Ask him/them for ideas if they dont have a position.

Perseverance is the only thing that will win the day, that is unless your dad/rich uncle is a regular.

    BTW;
The saying is Ferrari mechanics drive Fords and Ford mechanics drive Ferraris.

Didn't you state that you were a 14 year old in another thread? Planning 2 years ahead?

This is actually true, as I started at your age washing the Ford car lot as a porter, worked my way thru Pontiac in Parts Department, then after many years built my collection of Ferraris!!!

I keep a Trans Am to remind me of the climb.....plus, it always starts and runs!!!!

Car salesmen are supposed to be passionate about making money, not about the cars. ;)

Sorry to burst your bubble but the answer is no, you have to be 18-21 depending on the position, for insurance purposes.

good call..you have to have a full drivers license and have a clear record for 5 years min (as in no crashes etc). Not to mention a high level of sales experience.

I know this because I have a relative whos partner was a salesman for a dealer.

Tell them you'll be willing to anything they ask for free just so that you can be around and learn more about what you love. This will show your dedication. Everything else will work itself out...

Go to the showroom when it is not busy and see if the sales manager will talk to you. Explain that you have a passion for the brand and that you would love the opportunity to get involved at the dealership working in any capacity. See what they can offer if anything. You might be surprised at the jobs they could have you do. Try to look semi-professional and courteous.

+1. This way you will be volunteer there and then become a familiar face to everyone, and build up your credibility and "seniority" so to speak so that when the time comes for a real job you may be the one they hire

A 16 year old can work in the parts department, can help with clerical work in the finance/admin department, or can sweep floors and keep the parking lot looking immaculate. There are lots of little things that they can do. They better not be allowed to drive/park/shuffle client cars, but they can help in the shop too as long as they are supervised. It was twenty years ago, but I had friends working at American Service Center back in the late 80's during HS when they had the Ferrari Franchise for the DC Area.

If you seem mature and are willing to work for minimum wage, I am sure that you can convince an established exotics dealer to take a chance on you for a few hours a week. Just work hard and don't blow it for the next HS kid who comes along looking for the same first step to take.

You can get a job as a lot boy or detailer. I have seen more than one dealer GM who started that way.

    maybe not...

I had a acquaintance who worked for an Indycar team back in their heyday (early/mid 90s). They got people offering to work for free all the time. They immediately disregarded 95% of them, as they were almost always just car guys who wanted to be around cool stuff and brought nothing to the table. (Those who got attention were usually related to a team member, a sponsor, etc)

The OP should focus on providing whatever valuable service he can to the dealer-washing cars, shop assistant, working in the parts dept (great way to learn about how cars work btw), etc. and being compensated for it, even if its min wage, over being "free" and treated as such.

    just my .02.

    Checklist:

    -Long hair/dreadlocks/scraggly beard/stubble?

    -Piercings?

    -Visible tattoos?

    -pants worn below waistline?

    -bad breath or teeth?

    -poorly groomed hands?

    -bad grammar in speaking?

Take care of all those first, if you have any lingering. It's not a fair world, the best personal presentation takes it, no matter.

Go for the neat, conservative look. Dress well, speak well, make no negative mention of anyone.

    Good luck.
