What is your headliner made of, memory foam?

I invited my friend to sit in my car since he has never sat in a Ferrari and I left him there for a few minutes while I went to gather my kid from the party. He walks up and says, "Man I love your car but what is up with the headliner, is it made from memory foam?"

    FACEPALM!

My car looked perfect in the interior but I had never touched the headliner as my friend felt compelled to do. Now there is a nice indent in it where he touched it and a bigger one where I tried to smooth it out! It's cloth FYI.

Do any of you guys have a secret way to make it look good again? Basically it looks like a dent in the headliner....my otherwise pristine showcar interior! I suppose my car is in the early stages of giving up the headliner due to the humidity or age but is there a trick I can try?

Stick the vaccum up there and try to pull it out that way ?
I can tell you the old foam under there compresses and does not return to shape
    due to deterioration .....

I checked it this morning and it does look better, maybe it will improve over time! I don't think I could stick a vacuum up there. I could just see that now, sucking off the entire headliner! Anyone ever change theirs from cloth to leather?

I just don't think that is a viable option Curt. I think it is more delicate of an operation than that. Or did you do this before? I think at the very least I might need to source some new foam and transfer the cloth part to it. In my mind I would need some special consideration in re-attaching it up there. Are there special tools that support a headliner for installation?

Actually I am not in as bad of shape as it might seem. I have a red leather headliner that I bought on Ebay last year for $40. I thought it was a good price to pay to have a template of the headliner as I was considering having one made up in diamond stitch to match my leather floormats. If it doesn't relax more I might try a heat gun first...on a warm setting!

Well the heat gun did nothing so now I am looking for the right shape to press a uniform depression in the headliner until I work up to a swap at a future date!
