    Working on some electrical issues on my car 84 Mondial QV (pray for me) and noticed this black box stuffed under the center section of the dash. I think it might be for an old Clifford alarm system, any ideas before I start with its removal? The alarm has ben disabled by PO.
    Thanks

    I don't recognize the box, so I feel your pain. I also have a '84 QV.

    When I bought my car it had been sitting in the Florida sun for a while. Basically nothing electrical worked properly. I spent some time cleaning grounds and switches, replaced the negative battery cable (bypassing the cut-off switch), etc. For one, shining month or so, EVERYTHING electrical worked! Even the sensor letting me know that the windshield wiper fluid was low.

    Sadly, it only lasted about a month. Today (8 months or so later)...
    * No reverse lights.
    * Front passenger side parking light out.
    * Hot start issue.
    * Front bonnet button doesn't work.

    Good luck!

    Lead dress and additional in-line connectors also suggest an alarm. No such beast in my QV.

    Agreed with Mike... make it go away. It only exists to reduce the reliability of your wonderful electrical system. :)

    (Just be sure to document how it is interfaced to the car's existing wiring so you can set things straight after removal.)
