REPLICA 14-louver TDF built on 250 GT Ellena chassis #0883 GT.
New to Hilary Seal in St. Louis, MO/USA, later with Gilbert Schaeffer in Cleveland (1961), then fitted by Raceway Equipment Co. with a Cobra 289 engine, stored from 1966 until 1979, 1980 with George Rappelyea in NJ, then Dave Lepiscopo in Long Island, then Roger Kerlin in IL (11/1987), then in Eugene/OR July 1989 and then it became a REPLICA TDF. See also "Autoweek" Magazine, issue dated 7 October 1985.

Marcel: You might want to check more about Hilary Seal. I think he was from the New York area. He bought a number of Ferrari's from Chinetti in the late 50s-early 60s.

New York, NY, is correct. Not St. Louis, MO.
    Apologies.

1989 was owned and offered by Tim Chinn nephew of the infamous Don Fong and then sold on by Chinn sometime in 1989 or early 1990

Thanks for the missing tidbit. I am constantly surprised at the depth of information that unselfishly surfaces within this community.

This TDF replica was offered by Family Classics of CA a few years ago. The were stuck on a price of $1MM. I had some interest but my offer was not accepted.

Correct serial number is 0885GT with a restamped engine now carrying 0695GT.

Second of all I have a note denying Lepiscopo's ownership of 0883GT.

I used to be very good friends with Dave Lepiscopo. I was with him when he purchased a 250 PF convertible. The car was all apart and I recall that he had either the left front or right front fender replaced. He purchased the car either on his 30th birthday or a few days before or after. He said he would own a Ferrari by the time he was 30. If I recall correctly he sold it for about $110k.

He also owned a black 275. It had no hood on it. It was the first Ferrari I ever drove. He purchased it from a body shop on Long Island for $25k.

I also recall him purchasing a 250 GTE and selling it for a $50K profit the same day he purchased the car.

His shop used to be in Baldwin and then he moved it to Freeport, NY. I am not sure if he is still around. I lost touch with him in the late 80's early 90's.

He is the one who gave me the passion for old cars.

With all due respect Marcel, Dave Lepiscopo never owned 0883GT. I purchased it directly from Rapplyea and still have the original key with Schaefer written on the paper tag. I paid $13,500 plus an IBM Selectric II typewriter (George is/was a writer) I picked it up from George at his home in NJ. It had a crease in the driver's door that I had repaired by Daytona Coachworks and kept the car for two years. It had two nasty habits. One was that at speed, if there was a window open in the car, the headliner would balloon down onto the driver's head. Quite surprising when it first happened. Second, it had a propensity to break axles. I had two sets made for the car by Henry's Axles in California. When I sold the car a complete set of spare axles were included in the sale. Sad to hear it gave its life to become a tribute car. The conversion to Ford power was first class, having been executed by Speedway Associates in Indianapolis, IN.
