...bolts on the suspension of my 308.

I want to replace the nuts as I renew my bushings.

    M12 either 1.25, 1.5, or 1.75
    M14 either 1.5 or 2.0

    Thanks,

    -John

They are fine pitch: so M14 is 1.5 and M12 is 1.25
Listed at the back of the WSM with the torque specs

Might be useful for you. I'm working on a blog post of mine to list all replacement fasteners and torques needed when renewing the suspension... still a draft but I think its correct....

List of new fasteners (front, both sides), all Nyloc
    4 x M14x1.5 class 10
    12 x M12x1.25 class 10
    10 x M10x1.25 class 10 (inc anti-roll bar D-brackets)
    3/8x24 (track rod ends)

List of new fasteners (rear, both sides), all Nyloc
    4 x M14x1.5 class 10
    10 x M12x1.25 class 10
    4 x M10x1.25 class 10 (anti-roll bar D-brackets)
    2 x M8x1.0 class 10

(Assumes standard GTB rear anti roll bar, presumably the thicker GTS bar is M10 but I don't know)

Thanks for that. They are all class 10?

    Where did you source them?

You might have fun removing the suspension forks... esp driver's rear at the front

That one was fine. The drivers rear rear and the passenger rear front are stuck really good.

And one bushing failed and an outer part of the bushing seized to the bolt. It is awkward and will probably require that I cut the bolt. Not thrilled about a sawzall near all that expensive steel.

When doing mine, I found there was very little a 18" breaker bar cannot loosen. And when I could not get a socket on something, having this helped:

All the nuts came lose just fine. Just one remaining rear fork on the driver side. It seems very nicely stuck.

I used a sawzall on the last bushing bolt. Had to cut it twice as the bolt had seized on the inside of the entire bushing. No damage to the a-arm or frame... woot.

Shocks are sent for rebuild. Now to r&r the a-arms and forks. And to order some fasteners.

An easy way to find the pitch is to take the nut off, put a thin film of engine oil from the dip stick (dirty)on the bolt or stud thread. Using a small strip of printer paper to take an impression of the thread, by pressing onto the thread length. This gives you say 8 or 10 pitches and you can measure with a ruler or vernier.

Yes thats fine if you have a set- the stuff i worked on had so many thread types this way was a handy get out of jail fix. No shops in the middle of the Atlantic.

Or do it like a mechanic apprentice once learned it in his first year during the first few weeks.
Measure four pitches with the help of a vernier caliper ( measuring five crests of thread) and divide by four.

    Best Regards
    Martin
