As the title states...What is the most RARE Ferrari Color?
From the factory. I know green is quite unusual...but Im sure the factory has put out other colors that are "un-ferrari like'
Giallo Senape 20-Y-464 I don't think I've ever seen this particular color in person. ' this car belongs to jselevan. DM Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oro Chiaro? Sort of a goldish color... That lime-green 308 was the first one that came to mind, though. An FCA member from the Bay Area just took delivery of a Smurf-Blue 430 coupe - probably not too many of those in production, either.
Verde Chiaro was listed as a Ferrari color in the 80s. I have never seen nor heard of any car that was actually delivered in that color. I have pics of at least one 328 in every other stock factory color (even Oro Chiaro and Prunga).
There is a lovely dark green that I saw on a 456 GTA over natural leather. It was a spectacular combination and set me off on my 456 hunt. It's metallic but not shiny and not quite as dark as British Racing Green. The dealer's site calls it "Forest Green" but I don't think that's what it's called. BTW, I don't think the color would work real well on a 355/360/430, but it does wonders for a front engined 12 cyl. Ferrari. As for rarity, there are probably as many green Ferraris as there are red Jags. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Actually, I've seen a number of red E-Types and I don't really hang out at Jag club meets. I would guess some shade of green would be extremely rare on Ferrari's. I've never seen one in person. Runner up might be that marronne color on the TR that Boston Sports Car is/was selling. Someone on another board told me he had checked the Ferrari factory records to determine how many 328's were delivered in nero metallico (he had one, and I ended up buying one in that color.) He said 45 were made. I never checked his source, but it would be fascinating to see how many of each model were painted in each color code. That information must be available at least for the modern or almost-modern cars.
I really like both the "Giallo Senape" 246 as well as the lime green 308. The latter color is currently quite popular on Italian designer furniture in Germany. Never understood the obsession of most f-car enthusiasts with red/tan.
I notice German plates also on the lavender 355. As much as I love Germany (lived there for 3 years) you folks have a lot to answer for
Here is my Verde Silverstone (not metallic). I think this is what the dealer means when he says "Forest Green". However, for 456s, this is not an uncommon color. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
