Hi Rich, sorry for not getting back . My car is 1996 with VIN ZFFPR41C000104236 and I see it listed in your long list of challenge 355s, is still a serious track car and puts up respectable times John
Ah so it's one of the Aussie rhd cars ... A 95 spec car .... I guess it came as a roll cage mounts in carpets out car ... With the 95 kit ... Do you have any history of who did the kit install ..?? The uk cars were all done by MHT, bob houghton (h in MHT) is still running his business and confirmed the first cars came in that format and the late cars ... Like mine were factory built apart from fitting afew things like the seats etc ... My car is in octane this month ... (Feb)
No question vitcory for the 355CH it seems... It seems market prices arestarting to reflect that. 430 CH are being offered quite cheap vs. 355CH.

Hi everyone: I own a 1998 Ferrari 355 Challenge, RHD, in the UK. Chassis number: ZFFXR41C000107868. This is a factory-built race car (I believe all the 1998 cars were), not one that's had a kit added to a road-car. Used mainly for track days. Working on road-legalizing the car and in the UK, the process for road-legalization of race-cars based on street-versions is very simple after the race car is over 10 years old: just put on a handbrake, a horn and lights and get an MOT (emissions test) done. One can then drive the race-car 'as is' (fast steering rack, any suspension, ride-height, etc.) on the road. Not that it's going to be too comfortable, but it will be nice to be able to drive to the track once in a way. The car is used mainly for track days right now. Last winter, I had the DTMPower stage 1 work done: DTMPower Ltd - Road and Race Car Engineering : 407 HP, great torque curve, Motec M84 Engine management. Drives real well around Silverstone; can't wait to try it at SPA in September/October. Cheers, -- Atul Saini [email protected]
if its any use to you, the records I have shows 107868 as a 97 car, so probably part factory part kit. As I understand it there were only 3 RHD cars built to '99 spec as factory cars, all with 98 VINS ready for the forthcoming 99 season 111454 111507 111593 MHT did all the work on the RHD uk cars, bob Houghton is the H in MHT
btw , I made mine street legal, get in touch if you need any help, the DVLA registration process was fairly tortuous to navigate you probably need fiorano springs, if you leave the race ones on it shakes all the electrical connectors to pieces !! Hand brake is also an interesting challenge if you still have the big brembos headlights are sometimes a challenge to source if you only have the lightweight covers and $$$$ Road tyres there is not much choice and you need a friendly MOT guy for the emissions test, as I bet you don't have much of the cats left lol
