    Just curious?

Those that have ridden them whats it like?

Do you feel excessive Gs and if you blink are you off the road in a ditch?

dont blink, stay low and foreward over the tank to keep the front end down, yes you feel the G's.

The 0-60 and quarter mile is a hoot. 0-180 is better, holding it wide open on the Salt for miles on end even better yet.

Taking a bike around a track, dragging knees and elbows? Nothing better. Like flying a jet fighter inches off the ground, with the nearly the same consequences if you get it wrong.

You feel the G's, the pavement, the suspension, the engine all equally.

the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times listed in the mags are hard to come by in the real world and with real world riders. Some can come close.

Launching a street bike off the line is a challenge, and frankly, not all that fun. I'd rather have a fat rear tired bike with a wheelie bar and a dual stage lock-up clutch.... now THATS fun.

Obviously the feeling isn't similar to G's felt when accelerating in a fast car. Most of the load you experience on the bike goes through your arms and a small fraction through your butt. Obviously in a car, most of that load goes through your torso. I'd equate it to the feeling when you were little of getting swung around in a circle by your arms. You just lean on the tank, press your knees against the side, and hold on tight. When you can feel the front wheel start creeping up, that makes it even better.

I was just going to comment on this. Usually you don't feel it as much because you are also pinned on the tank, keeping the wheel down. The pressure is then presented to you vertically down your spine as opposed to in your chest. Still thrilling though because of the sound and being exposed to the elements.

I received this tidbit in an email from Cagiva USA the other day:

MV AGUSTA SETS BONNEVILLE LAND SPEED RECORD

The 2007 MV Agusta F4-1000R takes title of World’s Fastest 1000cc Production Motorcycle

The 2007 MV Agusta F4-1000R raced across the salt flats during the 58th Annual Bonneville National Speedweek land speed trials (August 12-18, 2006) and into the Southern California Timing Association record books as the fastest production class 1000cc motorcycle in the world with an average combined speed of 185.882 MPH (299.148 KPH) and a highest single speed of 187.726 MPH (302.116 KPH).

A collaboration between Team Manager, Bob Leppan of TT Motorcycles, Rider Roosevelt ‘Rosey’ Lackey, Tuner Eraldo Ferracci of Fast By Ferracci Racing Products, Primary Sponsor, Gary Kohs, of Fine Art Models, and Matthew Stutzman, MV Agusta GM, the group focused their efforts on attaining the Land Speed Record for the 1000cc Production Engine / Production Frame (P-P) class previously set at 182.759 MPH. The 1000cc “P-P” record is particularly desirable as it based upon unmodified “showroom stock” production models available at any authorized dealer.

Throughout the qualifying runs, the F4-1000R showcased its renowned high speed stability while delivering a factory rated 174 HP and 81.8 ft./lb. of torque to the Utah Salt Flats, propelling the motorcycle unerringly to the very limits of traction and aerodynamics. Veteran rider Roosevelt 'Rosey' Lackey, who piloted the F4-1000R on its record run said that “the bike is so beautiful, it does everything you could want for it to do, with nothing ill at all in any way shape or form, no hiccups anywhere. I love that motorcycle just the way it is.”

The Bonneville effort is yet another step in the contemporary MV Agusta brand’s return to organized racing and complements emerging efforts in both Europe and the United States. Cagiva USA, Inc., the official North American importer of MV Agusta, has set its sights on AMA homologation for Superstock in 2007, and CEO Larry Ferracci notes that “with a performance like this at its Bonneville debut, the MV Agusta F4-1000R is proving to be the platform that will bring MV Agusta’s historic championship-winning success to US racetracks in the very near future.”

There 1/4 time is about 9.5@high 140's. I 0-60 is somewhere in the 2's and the 0-100 id bet is somewhere in the 5's.But with your average weekend rider I wouldnt expect to see it better then a 9.7 at your average drack track across america. Theres always that one guy at the track though who can run the piss out of the bike who will run close but the rest just cannot ride the bike to its full potetional. There should be alot of these bikes running in the 8's with some laughing gas an a extended swing arm.

Almost ALL litre bikes will run to 100 in the mid 5's. Perfomance Bike (British Rag) tested hundreds of bikes in that run, and a 130 HP 954 was just as fast to 100 as the Turbo Hyabusa. Only a few tenths slower. 0-60 is a waste, because they all do it in the blink of an eye.

I agree with choptop, knee draggin' around a track is the way to go. Much more fun.

Exactly. The fastest sportbike 0-60 and 0-100 would be the one with the most-capable rider on it.

    http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/146_performance_numbers/index8.html

1/4 mile, the difference between the 600's and the 1300's are only a matter of tenths of a second.
