Most would say an M3 as the greatest balance of an adult fitting 4 seat/4 door "sporty car" and I would agree with them. However, as a DD, I cannot see how much more of a grin you can get when you step on the throttle of a 451 to 481 HP /443 lb foot torque C63! The C63 is the last AMG to have the normally aspirated humongous 6.2 liter V8. All other E, S, CLS, SL AMG's have converted to the 5.5 liter TT. The C63 is actually detuned by the factory in Alfalterbach from the "older" E63's and S63's 507/520 HP. Pay for a $1000 ECU tune to bring the C63 back to spec and you have a verifiable MONSTER! Only problem is you go thru rear tires like butter. The M3 is a much better balanced handling car and a much better transmission, while the C63 is a muscle car drag King that can handle the turns. The M3 is more akin to driving the V8 Ferraris (355/360/430) while the C63 is more like driving the v12 Ferraris (550/575/599).

How much of a difference in rear leg room is there really between a 456 and a 911 (996/997)? I don't feel comfortable in the back of a 911, but if there was just another inch or two I think it would be "comfortable" (excepting ingress or egress).

Does the 456 give that inch or two more?

I'm only 5'10" and have been a passenger in the back seat of a Maser coupe over some distance. While it was roomier than my 911 and wasn't as painfully cramped as I had imagined it would be, it was not what I would call "comfortable" for any more than a short run. My wife (5'4" and < 95lbs) , on the other hand, was much more comfortable and probably could have stayed back there all day if necessary without complaint. "Comfort" is all relative.

No adults can fit in the back seat of a GranSport. That is my totally uneducated opinion which is based on absolutely zero experience.

There haven't been many suggestions for the Maserati 4200GT Coupe or Grand Sports. You can actually get two adults in the back

If you really mean four useable seats the best high performance 4 door is the BMW M5.
It is a race car for four and an absolute blast to drive!

Can't you buy a used Porsche panamera for in and around 60k now? They are an awesome driving car, and would have no issues being a DD..

18,000+ miles. Always drive in Sport, never in auto, try not to reverse uphill and it does pretty well. On my second clutch.

To dreamer's credit, unlike some he actually admits he doesn't know what he's talking about ;)

I have one and love it. It is extremly powerful and comfortable. I had a 2012 shelby which was 550hp and the 2013 is just better because of the numbers you present. Both are great cars and alot of fun.

Lee, what don't you have? Lol... I visited your home some years ago and we talked cars at "cars and cafe". I like how you buy any brand of car not only following exotics.

A *true* "sports car" doesn't have a back seat... OR two extra doors. That just adds weight.

And weight is the mortal enemy of a *true* "sports car".

Technically, the traditional English definition of a "sports car" , is a two seater with no top. But, for a sports coupe' a used Porsche 911 is the best sporty car that you can use as a DD on the market at any price IMHO; you can even find a 997 turbo for that amount. The rear seats are small, but my daughters fit in my 993 back seats until they were 10 0r 11 as I recall. For a new 4 seat sports coupe', its much tougher...an S5 is too heavy and expensive. Maybe a Golf R or 1M or STi ?

What about a secondhand Maserati 3200gt, seen some in the uk at under £7000 ($10000) now....... Low miles, and not much wrong with them...... Had one back in 2002 and it was a fantastic car

Get something cool and rare: Lamborghini Espada - 4 seats, fast, definitely won't see yourself coming and you will get a great one for $60K. Jarama is rarer and cheaper.
